“What? You already gave me my present.” He laughs.

“I never said that was your only one. Do you want to see your surprise or not. I worked hard on this surprise.”

“Okay, okay calm down.” We walked outside and I didn’t see anything.

“So where is this surprise?”

“Look in the backyard.” What the hell is going on? I go to the backyard and my eyes open wide in shock.

“Katy?”

“Happy birthday Daniel.” This is what was missing. I turn to Christopher and he smiles.

“Happy birthday little brother.”

“You are the best fucking brother ever.” He laughs.

“Yeah I know.” I walked over to Kate she is just as beautiful as the last time I saw her. It’s been awhile since Micheal took her somewhere and she’s been gone for months.

“When did you get back?” I ask.

“Two weeks ago.” Why haven’t I seen her around in these last two weeks then?

“I’m happy your here, Katy.”

“Christopher made this happen, but I’m happy to be here How was your birthday?” She asked softly.

“A lot better now.” Kate looks away as she smiles she’s eleven now and she still gets shy around me. I grab her hand and we walk into the woods.

“How long are you here for?”

“What do you mean I live here silly?”

“Yeah, but your father is always taking you somewhere specially during the summer and I never get to hang out with you.” She tensed up for a second.

“Don’t be such a baby you see me all the time in school and that’s about to start up again soon.”

“You used baby in the wrong way Katy.”

“No I didn’t. Just because your two years older doesn’t mean your smarter than me.” I laugh she has a point she’s smart teachers have been talking about moving her up a grade level or two.

“I didn’t say you are not smart Katy, I just said you used baby in the wrong way.”

“How am I supposed to use it then?” I smirk.

“You are supposed to call me baby that’s all.” Her face turned pink and she looked away and I laugh.

“No way.” She says quickly.

“Come on Katy call me baby. Say I’m yours.” Katy let go of my hand and walked two inches away from me.

“Stop teasing me, Daniel.”

“I’m not. Just say it Katy. We all know that your mine, right.” Her face turned red and she shook her head.

“Katy.”

“Stop calling me that.” She says in a strong tone. She only says that when she’s mad at me.
