"You should've told your Daddy that you ate something bad. He would've made you feel better."
She flinched at the mention of her lie. She knew she shouldn't have done it, but she couldn't help herself.
"She didn't eat anything bad," Daddy said. "Do you know anyone who would want either one of us or both of us?"
Sofia looked at Leo and he was giving her a disapproving look. She knew she shouldn't have lied, but it was the only thing she thought about doing so he didn't get involved. Now that his name was mentioned in the threatening note, he couldn't stay out of it.
"I hope you give her a spanking for lying," Leo said. "It's unacceptable. But no, I can't think of anyone who would want either one of us or both of us. We aren't really out much."
"It would have to be someone that is here right now. She got one before her shift started and after," Michael said. "Maybe one of the employees?"
"What's going on?" Leo asked.
"Sofia got two threatening notes today," Daddy said. "The last one mentioned to stay away from you and me."
Sofia leaned into her Daddy's embrace and closed her eyes.
"I'm going to call This We'll Defend Security and get them to look into it. I’ll also have them get a bodyguard here to keep Sofia safe," Daddy explained.
"Don't you have a friend there?" Leo asked.
"Yeah, he does. He helped with Monroe when she was in danger," Michael said. "I suggest asking for Ezra, if he can come. He seemed to get along with Monroe and I have no doubt he'll get along with Sofia."
She wanted to argue that she didn't need a bodyguard, but that would be a lie. She probably did need one and should keep her mouth shut. The sooner they figured out who this person was, the sooner things could go back to normal.
"Sofia, can you look at Daddy?" he asked.
She opened her eyes and looked up.
"I want you to answer honestly," he said. "Can you do that for me?"
"Yes, Daddy," she replied.
Anything to do with this person threatening her, she would try to answer to her best ability. She didn't know much, but she could tell them what she did know.
"Is that all you've been keeping from me?"
CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE
SOFIA
Sofia stared at her Daddy for a little bit, trying to comprehend if he really asked that question.
"Was that everything you've been keeping from me or is there more?" Daddy asked more directly. "It doesn't have to be related to the threatening notes."
She closed her eyes for a brief second before looking back at him. How did he know she was keeping something else from him? She had tried to keep it a secret that she had something else she was keeping from him, but apparently, she didn't do a good job of that.
"What happened the other day at your apartment?" Daddy asked. "Was it another threatening note?"
She shook her head. "No," she whispered.
"Then what was it?"
She thought about keeping up the lie she told him about it being a feminine thing, but she knew that was wrong and he deserved to know. Sofia also promised Monty that she would let Daddy know about it. He had a right to know since he was involved with her.
"I got a letter from the government," She softly said.
"Why?" Daddy asked. "What did they want?"
