She slowly nodded her head and turned back around. She needed to get back to work, and she didn’t want him to see how exhausted she was. It weighed her down. She knew if he stared at her long enough, he would find out and tell her to go home.
She wasn’t going home.
“Sofia,” he said. “Turn around and look at me.”
She really didn’t want to turn, but the way he said her name made her want to obey. It was soft but demanding.
“Sofia,” he said her name again, almost like a warning.
Slowly turning around, Sofia didn’t look Jaxson in the eyes. She couldn’t.
“Eyes,” he said. “Now.”
She brought her head up and looked into his eyes. Her shoulders slumped when she realized he was going to find out how tired she was.
“I don’t like being lied to,” he said.
Her eyes went wide. How did he know she had lied? Just because she was tired it didn’t mean she wasn’t okay. But she wasn't only tired, she was also feeling slightly nauseous. Probably because she hadn’t eaten anything to fill her stomach.
“If you don’t want to answer a question, don’t lie,” he said. “Just tell me you don’t want to answer.”
Sofia stared at Jaxon for several seconds, trying to figure out what to say. She knew Daddy Doms didn’t like lying. Most of them encouraged Littles who didn’t want to talk about it to say so instead of lying. Well, that’s what Sofia read, and she had seen some Doms do that while she was working.
She normally tried not to eavesdrop on people’s conversation. It was difficult not to, though, when she was serving them drinks and they were talking right there. They had to know she could hear them talking if they were sitting at the bar.
Sometimes she felt guilty, but other times she couldn’t help herself but listen to them because it was so interesting. Sometimes it made her glad she didn’t know other people, and sometimes it made her long to know people. To have that conversation with someone.
“Sofia,” Jaxson said.
“Sorry,” she whispered. “Sir.”
It wasn’t mandatory for her to call him sir, but she just felt like it was right. He was a Dom, and she was a sub and Little. It was a sign of respect and she did respect him.
“What’s on your mind?” he asked, sitting down in a seat.
She looked around, trying to see if anyone needed a drink or a snack. No one else was at the bar. Part of her wondered if, while she was in her head, Jaxson had given everyone a look to not come up. She didn’t think that was possible, but somehow, she felt like he would.
From her observations, whenever he was down in the main area, he only interacted with the other Littles who had Daddies. Well, besides Janie, but Sofia was pretty sure Mac was going to be her Daddy. It was weird that he talked to her all the time.
Jaxson didn’t talk to other people who didn’t have a Daddy or a potential Daddy. What made her different? Why was he always down here when she worked? Why was he always coming up and asking her questions?
“Sofia,” Jaxson said, sighing. “Are you okay? Do we need to go into my office so you can talk?”
She shook her head and looked down at her hands. She needed to stop spacing out while he was right next to her.
“I’m okay,” she whispered. “Just thinking about life and work.”
Work was her life right now. She didn’t really have anything else going on. No friends to hang out with and all she did wassleep, eat what little food she had, and work. That was all she had time for right now.
“Okay,” he said. “If you ever do want to talk, you can always come to me. I’m always free if you need to talk.”
She nodded her head and looked at him again. Sofia hadn’t heard him say that to anyone else. Maybe he only said that when there weren’t people around so other people didn’t worry. It was kind of him if he did that.
“Thank you,” she said. Who knows if she was actually going to take him up on that offer or not. She didn’t talk to many people about her problems, well, she didn’t talk toanyoneabout them. Sofia didn’t want others to be worrying about her.
Jaxson stayed sitting there, and she wondered if he needed anything. He normally didn’t sit at the bar.
“Can I get you anything?” Sofia softly asked.
