He hadn’t asked her if anyone was giving her a hard time and she was thankful. Jaxson could tell when she was lying, and she knew he would pick up on it again. She didn’t want to get anyone into trouble when nothing really bad had happened to her.

Sofia looked around the main room in front of her. The club wasn’t closed, but not many people were here. There were some people setting up for the playdate that was about to happen, getting things all ready. They would come over every once in a while and get a drink but it wasn’t often.

Her shift was supposed to end in thirty minutes and she planned on slipping into her onesie, grabbing her highland cow –Trixie– and heading out. Sofia knew she wouldn’t be able to go out there with all the other Littles if she didn’t have Trixie.

That was suicide.

Trixie helped her with so much. She comforted her when she needed it, and helped her be brave in times of need. Sofia brought her everywhere, or well everywhere she could fit into her bag, if she had one.

Each shift at the club, she had Trixie safely in her bag which was in a locker. The first night she had ever worked here, Sofia had made a trip to her bag a couple of times on the way to the bathroom so she could hug her.

It was a comfort thing, she needed it then, and she needed it now.

Nerves ran through Sofia’s body as she continued to take the room in. Everything was becoming real and super fast.

Did she have time to slip through the employees’ room and out the door?

Sofia didn’t know if she had it in her to go to this. Everyone knew everyone, but she didn’t know anyone. What if she made a fool out of herself? What if she said the wrong thing, offended someone, and they wanted nothing to do with her?

She turned her head to the right, looking at the entrance all the owners use to get to their office. She didn’t know if Jaxson was really going to come down before the event and be there for her.

Well, that was a lie.

Sofia knew he was going to show up. He had never lied to her and had told her before that what he said would happen. Unless he had a huge emergency, but he didn’t plan on having any of those.

Maybe part of her didn’t want him to show up, so her hopes wouldn’t go up, and she wouldn’t be attracted to him anymore. But part of her hoped he would, to show her he actually cared and wanted this.

Whatever this was.

“Sofia?” Jaxson said.

Her head turned to the left to see Jaxson walking towards her, but she quickly glanced away. She didn’t realize Jaxson had already walked down from his office and into the main room.

When did he come down? Was it before she arrived for her small shift or was she so lost in her thoughts she didn’t see him?

“You can’t keep ignoring me,” he said.

She went back to stocking up the snack section behind the bar for the next bartender. She didn't like to leave thingsunstocked for the person who worked after her. It didn’t seem fair to them when she wasn’t busy and could do it now. Who knew if the next person would get slammed with people ordering things.

“Sofia Espinoza,” Jaxson used her full name.

She stopped moving and took a deep breath in. Sofia knew at some point she wasn’t going to be able to ignore him, but she wanted to see how long she could go for. She knew if she interacted with him any more, that her feelings for him were going to heighten.

She already had trouble right now looking into his eyes without feeling things. The look he always gave her turned her on, and she didn’t want to see that. She didn’t want to be turned on while she was at work. Then she was all needy and frustrated the rest of the day until she could take care of herself.

Jaxson sighed. “The playdate starts soon. So, if you want, you can go ahead and get ready for it.”

She stood up and lifted her head a little to where she was looking at his chest. “I just need to change my clothes and grab Trixie.”

Sofia didn’t want to leave the bar unattended while she went and changed. She could wait until the next employee came to take over.

“Well, you can leave now to get changed if you want,” he said.

“I don’t need to,” she whispered.

It felt nice to talk to him again, and it worried her. She didn’t want to get attached to him. Then him say they couldn’t be anything or do anything because he was her boss. But it was so hard. She felt so comfortable around him and like she could say and tell him anything.

“Come around the bar,” he said.
