I return her wave before hurrying to my suite to shower and change. I’m about to put on a clean shirt when my eyes fall on the kitchen table. A package is lying there. Did I order something? I can’t even remember. I stroll to the table, taking a look at it and noticing it’s already open. The recipient was Henry.

If it’s for Henry, why is it in my room?

Peeking inside, I instantly see why. Did this idiot really buy me the Albus figurine I’ve wanted and whined about? I’m rendered speechless, my chest churning slightly. That’s so nice of him. He probably did it because he noticed my weird mood during the birthday party for the girls. He must have been genuinely worried if he spent so much money on something I like.

I smile, unwrapping it and putting it on my shelf beside my other Harry Potter figurines. When I’m about to toss the wrapping paper in the bin, my eyes fall on the price tag. No fucking way! He really paid that much money!?

I have no time to research this further because I’m running short on time and need to hurry to the Council. Henry took off earlier because he had a few stops on his way. Fortunately, there isn’t much traffic, and I make it in time for our meeting to start.

The Council operates from a huge skyscraper with a huge glass front and tight security. I’ve heard in Paris it’s an actual castle, which has to be even more stunning. Elise and Elodie registered Henry and me in advance, so I just need to go through the standard security check.

A nice lady shows me the way to the meeting room. I can see Elise entering it right before me, making me feel relieved that we came around the same time.

“Barely on time,” Henry grumbles at us when we enter.

“What can I say?” I retort. “I was too busy being shocked that my idiotic brother bought me movie merchandise for four thousand dollars.”

Elodie’s mouth drops open. “Four thou… for a piece of plastic!?”

“Not that I wasn’t happy.” I grin. “But it’s definitely not worth that much.”

“I had some money to spare,” Henry grumbles, obviously embarrassed.

I sit down opposite him.Thank you,I link him.It was a nice gesture, and I really like it.

So are we good?he asks hopefully, almost sounding like a lost pup.

Apparently, I’m easy to bribe because I find myself nodding. Can’t remain angry at you anyways. But next time, talk to me first!

I promise.

“Alright, everyone,” Elodie opens her notebook. “We’re not going to stay here for long.”

“What’s the plan?” Elise wants to know. “Did you find the coven you were looking for?”

“Yes, here in town, there is a coven with an ancient witch,” Elodie explains. “Remember, we met her already last year when we helped Alpha Celine.” Elise beams and nods. “I called them earlier today, and they agreed to a meeting, so we’ll be heading there shortly.”

“Should we maybe involve some of our allies?” I ask. “We are just four people, and maybe we could ask someone from the old group to join us?”

“You mean Steve?” Elodie asks.

Steve is a fellow friend who went on the mission with us. I’m embarrassed to admit that Henry and I picked on him first, but after we put aside our pride, we got along well. I shake my head though. “No, I talked to him at your birthday party, and he is swamped. Seems like he took over more tasks in his pack and is joining the elite training soon.”

“How about Marcel then?” Henry asks. “He is very reliable, on top of that, he is a great team worker. We are all alphas by blood, and we could need someone with a more…” he pauses.

“Gentle side?” Elodie offers.

“More common sense?” I ask.

“More wholesome perspective?” Elise adds.

“We’re not that bad,” Henry groans, but a smile curls his lips. “But yeah, he brings a different perspective to the table.”

“Marcel is a great guy,” I agree. “We should ask him for help. That is if it’s alright for you girls?”

“I think we can trust Marcel,” Elodie nods.

Elise sighs dreamily. “Ah, my hot chocolate prince. I can’t wait to meet him again. He couldn’t come to our birthday party because he was out of the country, which means I missed my monthly dose of eye candy.”
