They both nod before Elden turns towards me. “Your two new friends are here too.” He chuckles. “I think they still want to talk to you. They seem very intrigued by the mainland.”

Oh, Aenon and Nen! I almost forgot about them! “I need to catch up with them later,” I tell Finn while he sips his coffee. “They are related to my father, so there is still a lot to talk about.”

Finn smiles warmly at me. “Of course. They can stay as long as they want.” His smile falters slightly before looking at me nervously. “Just please don’t swim off somewhere without telling me.”

I laugh. “I’d never do that!”

“I can’t believe Mom knew everything.” Flinn shakes his head in disbelief.

“That’s your mother for you,” Elden says. “Freya said she watched her fall off the cliff.”

“She had to do it,” I defend her instantly. If Flora hadn’t made sure I fell, the outcome could have been different.

I smile. Without Flora letting me fall, I might have never met my destiny. I’m eternally grateful to her, although it sounds weird to be thankful for someone pushing you off a cliff.

“Where is Trixie?” I ask, suddenly remembering the peculiar little being.

“She went back with Mom,” Finn tells me.

“Trixie is connected to Flora in a way,” Elden explains. “Her accompanying you was a favor she did for your mother. She is deeply indebted to her and loves her, but that’s a story for another time.”

It’s incredible how many secrets surround Elden and Flora. Here and there, one of them shows hints of what they truly know, but they seem to hold it back most of the time. Finn doesn’t seem to mind, though, and I assume he got used to it and, in a way, learned to understand it.

My thoughts wander. I still have so much to do. I need to talk to Aenon and Nen. And I want to catch up with Gina, Frankie, Odette, and the others.

I don’t know much about Frankie and Odette, but they were so kind when they helped us with the dresses. Now I can finally get to know them better. For the first time in ages, I feel content and happy to be in Blood Snow.

“Also…” I say, but pause when I feel two warm hands on my shoulders.

Flora appears out of nowhere and bends down to kiss the top of my head. “You are a true gift from the Goddess,” she says.

“Do you…” I start, remembering my weird talk with the Goddesses. “Are you…”

“I will tell you something,” Flora says. “Since you have forgiven me for letting you drop into the sea.” She pauses. “It was a direct order from Selene.”

Now Finn looks at her in surprise too. “So it’s true? Liam always suspected you were in contact with her.”

Flora smiles. “It’s a bit more complicated than that.”

“If the Goddess said to kill Freya, would you have done it?”

“No,” Flora answers promptly. “I don’t hurt those I love even if she would want me to. Not that she’d ever ask something so unreasonable, though.”

Flora lets go of me and twirls around to hug Finn. She whispers something in his ear, and he nods with a smile. She reaches out her palm towards us. To my surprise, Trixie is standing on it. “Someone wanted to say goodbye,” Flora says.

Trixie flutters around us. “It didn’t feel right to just leave,” she says.

“Thank you for staying with us until the end,” Finn says. “Without you spying on Colton and warning us, who knows what would have happened?”

“I had a lot of fun.” She beams. “Say hello to my favorite blond warrior for me, will you?”

“Of course.” Finn smiles. “Steve will be happy you thought of him.”

“You know, you can always stay,” I tell her. “You are welcome here anytime.”

Trixie flutters up towards my face and squeezes my cheeks. “You are wonderful, Freya, thank you. Maybe one day I will visit you. But my place is with Flora and with my kind.”

I nod in understanding.
