That’s okay, I think.
It’s time for Ben to go to bed, so I hustle him back up, help him clean up, then tuck him in. He’s definitely feeling better, but he’s already tired again, and I can’t blame him. It takes a lot out of you to be sick especially when you’re a little kid.
The men are all in the living room when I get back down. I enter the room and Knox reaches up from the couch, pulling me down onto his lap. I go easily, not even trying to resist, and curl up with my head on his shoulder.
Lawson is sprawled in the armchair, reading another romance novel, which makes me smile. Miles and Cruz are playing a video game on the television, while Knox makes snarky commentary about their skills.
I rest my head on Knox’s shoulder and playfully kick at the controllers in Miles’s and Cruz’s hands, making them laugh and jerk out of my way.
“If I die because of you…” Cruz warns me.
“Ooh, what are you gonna do?” I wiggle my feet at him. “Punish me?”
I bat my eyes and Lawson snickers from where he’s reading. “We’ve created a monster.”
“No, that’s not fair. Romance novels created a monster. You guys just gave me a chance to let the monster out.”
“Why does that sound hot?” Miles mutters, sounding confused.
Cruz laughs as his character dies. “And that’s me tapped out.”
He puts the controller down and looks at Knox expectantly. Knox nods. His arm is around me, and he slips his fingers under my top to stroke at my bare skin.
I shiver. It’s hot, but when I look at him, he doesn’t have that intense, devouring look on his face that he gets when he wants to fuck me. Instead he just looks almost unbearably fond.
“So, there’s something real quick we wanted to talk to you about.”
“There’s a charity auction coming up.” Miles pauses the video game, so that he can put down his controller and also look at me. “It’s an annual thing. We take part every year as a way of giving back.”
Lawson sticks a bookmark in the book he’s reading and sets it down. “Usually we donate paraphernalia, tickets to a game, things like that. We were hoping you’d be our date.”
“We figured it could be a… a good way for us to sort of publicly introduce you as our Omega, without it being a ton of pressure on you.” Cruz smiles. “We want to show you off to the world but we don’t want to throw a party just to introduce you.”
“Thank you, seriously.” I mean it. I’m not sure I’d love being the absolute center of attention like that. The only people’s attention I care about is that of my Alphas.
“It’ll be a really fun night.” Lawson grins. “I think it’ll be fun and we’d love to go out with you to something fancy. Show off our pretty Omega a little.”
“Personally, I keep thinking about how you looked when we saw you at the Omega presentation,” Cruz murmurs, his voice dropping down. I flush. “You were gorgeous.”
“Well…” I bite my lip and tuck my hair behind my ear, because yup, I lost whatever clips I put in it earlier today. “I’m more than happy to go somewhere and show the world that I’m yours.”
“Maybe tie your hair back, though,” Miles teases me. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a hair clip, handing it over to me.
My eyebrows shoot up. “Are you… carrying around a hair clip for me?”
“You always lose them,” Knox says, and I can feel his chest rumbling against me as he speaks. “Figured it made sense for us to start carrying some backups around.”
Unexpectedly, tears fill my eyes, and I have to blink them away. My Alphas are just so considerate and pay attention to me and my needs, and I almost can’t believe how much they care. “You guys are so sweet.”
“Don’t tell our opponents that.” Lawson winks at me.
“I’ll tell anyone I want,” I shoot back.
I put the hair clip Miles offers me into my hair, my mind swinging back to the charity auction. “I’d like to donate something to the auction too.”
The others look at me. “You would?” Miles hastily corrects himself. “That’s not a bad thing. I love that you want to contribute. But you really don’t have to. You shouldn’t feel any pressure.”
I shake my head. “I don’t feel any pressure. It’s just… well if you all are donating something, I’d like to donate something as well. I want to help contribute to the charity and the success of the night.”
