“We have a meeting with them in ten minutes. We can ask.”

“Fine, but don’t say it’s about me. I don’t need any questions about this situation from them. It opens up a whole family inquisition.”

She nods.

Ten minutes later we walk into one of the conference rooms to meet Reagan and Skylar. As soon as we walk in, Thor says, “Jade is dickmatized. Do either of you know what that means?”

That bitch just sold me out. I give her a dirty look and she gives me a small smirk.

Reagan and Skylar look at each other and start hysterically laughing. Reagan turns back to Thor. “You’re like an old lady. Of course we know what that means. I’m dickmatized too.”

Thor turns to Skylar and raises an eyebrow in question.

Skylar gives a small smile. “My husband is built like a football player. Let’s just say he’sproportionateto hisverylarge frame. I’ve also gotten pregnant three times in three years. So yes, I’m entirely dickmatized.”

Reagan lets out a laugh before looking at me. “The big question is who has you dickmatized, Jade?”

I give an innocent smile. “No one you know. I’m sure I’ll forget his name by tomorrow.”

She gives me a skeptical look. “As long as it’s not someone from a fifty-five-plus community.”

“Just a few years shy of that. Two or three.”

“Why don’t you bring him to our family dinner this week? We can size him up for you.”

“Umm, no. It’s…new.” I don’t know what the hell it is. All I know is that Collin texted this morning and asked when he can see me. I told him I’d come by at around ten tonight. That hour can’t be considered a date. That’s a booty call hour. I’m going to make it crystal clear that we’re fucking and that’s it. No other nonsense.

CHAPTERTEN

COLLIN

I’m finishing up at Reagan and Carter’s for the night. Jade’s coming over in an hour and I want time to shower and get a few things ready for her.

I walk into their living room. Carter and Reagan are on the couch. He’s massaging her feet as they talk. They don’t notice me at first.

It’s hard to describe their relationship. I’ve never been around a couple so in tune with each other. They do everything together, both work and play. If I ever believed in a soul mate, Carter found his in Reagan. If the past few years have taught me anything, it’s that they are truly perfect for each other and so blissfully happy.

“Sorry to interrupt. I’m heading out for the night.”

They turn their heads to me, but Carter doesn’t stop massaging her feet. He unashamedly dotes on her. In fairness, she does the same for him. They genuinely like each other. They’re best friends. I’ve never heard either of them say anything remotely negative about the other. Separately, they’re amazing people. Together, they’re a force of nature.

Reagan nods. “Okay. Thanks, Collin. We really appreciate all the extra hours to get it done so quickly.”

I smile. “My pleasure. I would do anything for you guys.”

“Did everything go well with Jade on the Wander project? She can really help move this along.”

I swallow. “Yes. I gave her my vision. She seemed to understand it. She said she’d let me know when it was done for me to look at it.”

“Great. She’ll have it done for you in no time. She works very efficiently. Do you happen to know if your brother is seeing her?”

I shake my head. “I don’t think so. He’s seeing her friend, Pandora. I believe he’s opening her box.”

They both laugh.

“Why do you ask?”

“She mentioned at the office today that she’s dickmatized but wouldn’t give a name. She said we didn’t know the person. I think there’s more to it. I’ve never seen her like this about a guy though.”
