"Sure, I'll be waiting," he said.
I could feel his gaze on my back all the way down to my ass. I didn't feel so comfortable.
I got to Adam’s door then took a deep breath.
"Here goes nothing," I sighed and opened the door.
Catherine was seated with a beautiful-looking ring in a small box. She was wearing her coat, which was rare.
Then there was Adam, who just stood there looking at her, only turning because I had come inside.
“Oh, hi, Crystal," Catherine waved.
"You don't have to worry about the ring," Adam assured me with a smirk, "She proposed and I said no. Because she can't afford me."
"I'll break every bone in your body," she warned.
"That's a beautiful ring, Catherine," I said as I walked over to her and inspected the ring, "I'm sure she'll love it."
"You really think so? Did she drop any hints about wanting to settle down?" She asked, a glimmer of hope in her eyes.
I remembered Sarah talking about having babies and all that during the pregnancy talk time.
"I think she's ready," I said with a smile.
"Thank you," she said as she closed the box.
Adam seemed proud of me.
"Do you like the ring?" He asked.
"It's beautiful," I said.
"I see," he smiled and looked at his feet. Seeing the grumpy billionaire get all bashful was a sight for sore eyes.
"I'll leave you two lovebirds alone," Catherine said as she got up to leave. "Good luck, Dr. Hunt."
She left us alone.
I turned to Adam to find him playing with his fingers nervously.
Seeing him nervous was making me nervous as well.
"I need to talk to you…"
"I need to talk to you…"
We said it at the same time.
"You first."
"You first."
It happened again.
"To think I'd experience this cliche thing," he chuckled. "Mine can really wait. You first."
"Okay," I said as I tucked my hair behind my ear, “I need your help with something.”
