“Why are you being so mean?”

“You’re not going with him,” Jake said.

Her mouth dropped open. “Of course not. My home is here with you guys.”

“You better believe it,” Caden growled.

“Stop it. You’re being rude.”

Kane chuckled, gaining her attention again.

“What?” she asked.

“Honey, they’re just being protective of you. I’m pleased you have these guys,” Kane said.

She tightened her hold on Macy but glared over her shoulder at them.

“What are you here for?” Macy asked.

“Can we get comfortable? Kane asked.

All four guys sat in different chairs facing Kane while he sat on the other side of the room.

Macy pulled her onto his lap. “Tell us.”

Kane smiled. “I guess the whole family needs to be here?”

The other three said yes at the same time.

He felt her stiffen. “Baby, they’re protective of you because they love you.”

“Macy, I love them, too, but this is one of those times I want to kick them,” Cat said.

Kane cleared his throat. “So, one of the reasons I’m here is to see Cat. Another is to check out your club. It’s very nice, and I hear through the grapevine you’re doing amazingly well.”

“We’re happy with how it’s going,” Macy said.

“The last reason is Maximus is in jail.”

Everyone sat quietly. They all knew who the bastard was, and each of them wanted to get their hands on him.

Macy felt Cat stiffen and hugged her tightly against his chest. “He’ll never hurt you again,” he whispered in her ear.

She nodded.

“Why?” Macy asked.

“He had another girl, and a delivery man heard the screams, and after he left, he called the police. They were able to catch them in the act.”

“Good. How’s the woman?”

Kane sighed. “She disappeared after her questioning. They would have used her as a witness if this went to trial. But no one knows where she went.”

“Do you think someone kidnapped her?” Caden asked.

Kane shook his head. “No. She voluntarily left the area. That I do know.” He looked at Cat. “They need you to come back and testify.”

Four no’s, including his own, made her jump.
