“What’s going on over here?” Cobra barked. “Is he helping us or not? We got no time to chit-chat.”
“I’m helping. Tell me what to do.”
“Let’s go, then.” Cobra stalked away, and I followed.
Perhaps helping Piper could be the good deed that would grant me a pardon for failing Rachel. I’d blown her off when she needed to talk about the bullies tormenting her at school and how she couldn’t take it anymore. And not just one time but a few or more. I’d told her to toughen up like a dickish brother.
I watched the five men hashing out a plan to rescue their sister. Their devotion and protectiveness stung. It burned me from the inside out to observe their grit and fight. I should’ve been like them with my sister.
Next month, Rachel would’ve celebrated her eighteenth birthday. She’d graduate from high school and maybe go to college. But she’d ended her life because the pain had been more than she could handle. I knew that dark place. Felt helpless. Wished to be dead.
Dead, dead, dead.
“Pyro!”
I spun around when I heard Singe’s voice. “What are you doing here?”
He and Flint approached. “We couldn’t leave without you. You’re a bandmate. We stick together.”
“I appreciate it.” Damn, they almost made me tear up.
“Yo, Pyro. Gotta go, man!” Hustler waved me over.
“Go where?” Flint asked.
“I’m helping the club rescue their sister.” I trotted toward Hustler. Not gonna lie. I was amped up over being the one to save Piper from the lunatic holding her hostage.
I just hoped I didn’t fuck it up.
And she’d allow me to take her out on a real date.
And do all the dirty deeds not because she needed an orgasm but because she needed me.

Lady M
Sixty-four minutes had passed since my sons had left the farm to rescue their baby sister. Three thousand, eight hundred, and forty seconds have ticked by while I waited for word on my dear Brady’s condition and the fate of my precious Piper.
I was confident my sons would do anything to bring my baby home.
But my momma’s heart was erratic with fear and rage. If I could wrap my hands around Forrest fucking Frat’s throat and squeeze the life out of him for messing with my family, I wouldn’t hesitate to end that little prick’s life.
“Relax, Lady M. Focus on Cherish.” Hope massaged my shoulders.
Every time I tensed up, she reminded me to turn my attention to my sweet grandbaby Cherish, who was curled in my arms. Holding the baby had been Karma’s idea.
I appreciated my girls’ efforts to keep me calm. My sons were so blessed and lucky to have their old ladies. So was I.
Karma and Reign were cooking enough food to feed an army of hungry men. They were also confident our family would be reunited in time for supper. I prayed they were right.
Nurse Hope tended to my health.
Nova was drawing a get well soon card for Brady. The little stinker had overhead Karma on the phone with Abe when he’d called to let us know Brady had been injured.
Then there was Destiny seated at the table across from me. She smiled politely. Helped Nova with spelling words. She appeared about as comfortable as a kitten in a wolf’s den. She needn’t worry. The old ladies and I wouldn’t tear her to shreds.
I kissed the top of Cherish’s warm head and inhaled her intoxicating baby scent. She soothed my soul, but nothing could ever make me stop worrying about Piper and Brady or my sons trying to be the heroes of the latest attempt on our family. I didn’t even want to think about which one of them had insisted on sacrificing himself. Although, such a gesture was right up Micah’s alley.
