He grasps the back of his neck, making his bicep bulge again. It seems to be something he does a lot, and I certainly won’t be complaining about it. My eyes naturally drop to watch the action and I swear my mouth waters a little. For a computer guy, he has a great physique. “Yep. I’ll come.” He smirks at me and my cheeks heat.
“I see what you did there. Good one.” I chuckle as I unlock and open the door, using the metal as a barrier so I don’t do something stupid like kiss him goodbye. I mean I usually embrace my friends and kiss their cheeks, but we’re not really friends. Are we? It’s all so confusing. I throw my purse across to the passenger seat as AJ lingers. Is he feeling the same?
He winks and taps the top of my door frame. “See ya Wednesday, Sarah. Take it easy, okay?”
“I will. And … thanks. For everything.”
“You’re welcome.” I close the door and he spins on his heel, walking toward his car. He tucks one hand in his pocket, pulling the denim across his tight ass. My forehead meets the steering wheel as I blow out a breath.
Stop staring at his ass. Stop noticing his muscles.Just stop already.

After a shower, I put on my most comfy pajamas and drop onto my couch to call my sister as promised. The phone rings twice, then her voice comes on the line. “How did it go?”
“Well, hello to you too, Sis.” I chuckle.
“Sorry.” She giggles. “Hey. How did it go?” she asks, impatience thick in her voice.
“As you know I won’t know for a little while, but things went smoothly.”
“Oh good. And the guy … he wasn’t a creep? You felt safe?” Being the eldest, Emma always worries about us, even though she has her own family to worry about now. “You know Theo and Max would have happily stood outside the door to make sure you were safe.”
“Oh, God. No way.” I huff out a laugh. “Poor AJ. I can’t imagine what his response would have been if he’d turned up to find my door guarded. I told you, he’s a really nice guy. He would have to be to help a stranger make her dream come true.”
“I know you said he came across as a decent guy, but I worry. You know how many psychos there are out there.”
“I know and I was careful. I promise. I wouldn’t have taken things this far if I didn’t feel completely comfortable with him.” I pause. “Maybe too comfortable.” My cheeks heat as my mind skips back to when I was lying on the bed trying to make myself come.
Her tone softens. “Sarah? What do you mean … too comfortable? You’re not going to get attached to this guy are you?” Not that Emma would care if I did, so long as the feelings were mutual. She helped pick up the mess Michael left behind, and she never wants to see me hurt like that again.
“No. I won’t. That’s why I’m not actually having sex with him. You know what I’m like. I can’t afford to catch feelings this time, and that’s why I’m making it as clinical as I possibly can.” I smile as I remember the look on his face when I showed him the collection condom and syringe.
I hear rustling in the background. “Oh yeah. Did he know that was the plan?”
“I assumed he did, but the look on his face suggested otherwise.” He could have easily become upset and walked out when my plan was different from his, but he didn’t. He’s been completely accommodating from the beginning and I get the sense he’ll always be that way.
“Oh God, Sarah. Was he okay about it all? He didn’t try to change your mind, did he?”
“Nope. He was very amiable once he got over the surprise. He assumed we’d be having sex, so it was a bit of a shock to him. Honestly, it was a fair assumption.”
“Well, I thought you’d be doing it that way when you told me about AJ.” I can hear the smile in her voice. “So now you wait?”
I sink back farther into the couch, lifting my foot to rest on the cushion. “Actually. He did some research about trying to get pregnant and suggested we meet again in two days. We’re going to repeat the process again on Wednesday and maybe again on Friday but we didn’t get that far yet.” I can’t keep the excitement out of my voice.
“Oh wow,” she breathes. “He’s serious about helping you.”
“Yep. I can’t believe how lucky I am.”
“I’m so happy for you. I hope you’re on your way to being pregnant as we speak.”
“Me too.” My heart twinges at the thought of not getting to spend more time with AJ.Stupid heart!
“You’re going to be such a great mom. I’m really proud of you, Sis.”
Emotions clog my throat and I nod. “That means a lot coming from you, Em.” I can only hope to be half the mom she is.
“I love you, Sare,” she says, her voice soft.
