“I love you,” I repeat slowly, speaking through my teeth. “Asshole.”

He smashes his mouth on mine and then moves down to my neck, kissing every inch of bare flesh he can find while I continue to eat the food he bought me.

“Ugh, you two are so fucking cute together, it hurts me,” Kian complains, leaning over to steal the joint from Travis’ mouth. “Why can’t I have that?”

Travis turns his head to sneak a glance at him and I lift my camera, still chewing on my noodles while I snap a picture of them. They look up at me as one and I cock my head at my screen, zooming in a little bit and adjusting the shot to focus on their faces.

“You’ve already got it, you idiots,” I say bluntly, sitting forward to pass it to them. “You’re just too damn stubborn to admit it.”

“I need to talk to you.”

I laugh lightly at that, side eyeing Noah over my shoulder while I open my locker. “About what?”

“What the fuck do you think?” he bites out, quickly slapping his hand on the metal to slam it shut again.

His eyes flash with rage and I turn to face him fully, raising a cocky ass brow when he steps closer to me, his chest bumping mine, his nose an inch away.

“Careful, pretty boy,” I taunt, refusing to back up like he was expecting me to. “You might be the king around here but I’ve got no fucking problem kicking your ass.”

“She’s my girl, you stupid freak,” he hisses, ignoring everything I just said. “Mine.”

I nod mockingly and open my mouth to tell him how wrong he is, but it seems he’s not done acting like an entitled little bitch just yet.

“I had her first, and I’ll have her last,” he assures me, purposely moving his eyes over my form with a mixture of pity and disgust. “You’re just a phase. One she’ll get bored of real quick when she realizes how much of a fucking loser you are. And me? I’m the one she’s gonna sleep next to every night for the rest of her life and there’s nothing you can do to stop it.”

“Is that right?” I draw out, amused by him and his lame ass attempt to get one up on me. “Did you just come up with that on the spot or did you practice in the mirror last night while I was balls deep inside your girl?”

His jaw ticks and I smirk, but then a sudden commotion behind me catches my attention and I turn my head, finding three uniformed police officers headed this way with my aunt Karen following closely behind them.

“Xander Reid?” one of them asks, motioning for me to step back out of the way. “Is this your locker?”

I frown and look between the three, but they’re already opening it up with the combination I didn’t give them yet. Students begin to hover around us and a few teachers come out from their classrooms to calm everyone down, but I’m still focused on the officers searching my locker, pulling my head back when they find several clear bags of cocaine and weed and pills and enough cash to get Jordyn through college.

“Oh, fuck,” I whisper to myself, already knowing there’s a real good chance I’m about to spend the next few years of my life in jail.

Karen’s face burns with embarrassment and rage and I open my mouth to defend myself, but I don’t get the chance to do that before one of the officers turns me around and cuffs my hands behind my back. He reads me my rights and Travis appears at my side, his eyes widening when he spots all the drugs behind me.

“Mom,” he says, pleading her to do something, but she just shakes her head and lifts a hand to shut him up.

“They have a warrant, Travis. Be quiet and let them do their jobs.”

He curses and I search the crowd for Jordyn, doing a double take at Noah when I find him talking to one of the teachers like the kiss ass he is. He shakes his head in mock disapproval and I bounce my eyes between his, laughing when it hits me because fuck, he really didn’t want me to look inside that locker just now, did he?

“Piece of shit,” I mutter, wincing when the officer behind me tightens the cuffs on my wrists. “Ow, you motherf– dude, that’s not my kink.”

He shoves me forward and I wiggle my hands to make myself more comfortable, looking up when I spot Jordyn walking around the corner just to freeze where she stands. Her face falls when she realizes what’s happening and she tries to come towards me, but then Travis wraps his arm around her waist and holds her back, not letting go when she attempts to fight him off.

“Xan.”

“Trav,” I bite out. “Get your hands off my girl.”

He does as he’s told and she rushes me, her eyes filled with unshed tears while she pulls my face down to hers. “Don’t say anything,” she orders, quickly shoving her hand into my pocket to steal my keys. “Keep your mouth shut and wait for my lawyer to come get you.”

I groan at that, dipping my head to catch her lips with mine. “You’re too fucking good for me, Jordyn James.”
