If He Hadn't Cheated

In my eyes, my life was perfect.

Everything was going according to plan.
I was attending a top college, with the perfect job lined up after graduation.
I was in love, engaged to marry the man of my dreams.
The wedding was planned.
The dress was picked out.

Until I found out the truth.

He wasn’t in love.
Not when I walked in on him with someone else.

A year later, I’m a college dropout barely making ends meet.
He graduated, moved on, and never looked back.

This wasn’t how it was supposed to go.

I’ve done things that maybe in my situation, you’ve thought about doing.
I’m not looking for love.
I’m still trying to figure out how to move on from the pain.
And maybe, just maybe, calling my ex’s best friend that drunken night wasn’t my smartest decision.
But I’m not the same woman I was before.
