I try to bite back my smile, but don’t miss the way our parents are looking at us with disgust and disappointment. I can tell they want to say more. Instead, they make the right choice and leave.

The air feels better with them out of our space, and I turn toward Colin. “Are you worried about that?”

He shakes his head confidently. “No. But don’t worry, if they try to do anything to ruin your senior year, I’ll take care of it.”

“You’re not killing anyone,” I scoff.

“I’d kill for you if that’s what it took, babe. I’m crazy about you andforyou.”

“I think you’re just plain crazy.”

“I think you’re right about that.” He pulls me against his chest. “I’ll show you just how much, but first I want you to run.”

My lips quirk in the smallest smile, readyfor this game. Even if everything crashes down around us, I can count on my crazy stepbrother to have my back.

And to fuck me senseless. So, I do what he says and I run.

COLIN

HALLOWEEN A YEAR LATER

Being apart from Mayson was not exactly what I wanted, but she insisted on finishing her senior year, and the closest team that offered me a contract was in Vancouver, Canada. It’s only about a three hour drive, but it’s as far as we’ve ever been. Though, I still come to her every free moment I have.

But between her school and soccer schedules and my own pro soccer schedule it’s been longer than I would prefer. Because we should be together every single night. And we will be, soon enough.

I knew I had to get back to Seattle for Halloween because it’s my girls favorite holiday. The best part is she doesn’t know I’m coming back for it.

She may think I stopped my obsessive ways, but I neverwill. I still know her schedule and have her location on my phone, so I can see she’s still at school after practice as I wait in the townhouse she’s still living in.

Our house.

Because I started paying for it as soon as I got my first paycheck from the league. My dad can’t hold anything over us. We’ve barely talked to them, but neither of us care. They can support us or they can fuck off. No one else has an issue with our relationship and even if they did, they can also fuck off.

I keep all the lights off, waiting for her to walk through the front door. My skull mask in place.

A new one since my last one ended up being left on the forest floor.

I’m shirtless in shorts that are short enough to show my thigh tattoo I know drives Mayson crazy, along with the silver chain resting against my chest. I know what she likes, and I always aim to please.

The click of the lock on the front door signals her arrival. She walks in, oblivious to what’s waiting here for her. She turns on the entry light, kicking her shoes off and walks further inside. As soon as her eyes land on me she jumps.

“Holy fuck, what’re you doing?”

I don’t say anything, just tilt my head to the side.

She plants her hands on her hips. “We aren’t doing this. Use your words.”

I shake my head slowly.

She groans, throwing her head back. “Oh for fuck’s sake, Colin. Aren’t we over this shit?” She turns and starts to walk away, but I’m up, out of the chair, and at her back, caging her in against a wall. She pushes against it, which only has her pushing her ass into my cock that’s dying to get inside her already.

“You came home with quite the attitude, figured you’d be happy to see me,” I growl against her ear.

“And I figured my boyfriend would greet me instead of sitting in the dark like a creep.”

I thrust against her because there’s something about her calling me her boyfriend that does it for me. Just like when she says she loves me and calls herself mine. Really, anything she does.
