I’m one of the oldest hockey players in the NHL and recovering from an injury, which means one thing: I’ve got one chance to make a comeback, or my career is over.
I’m working with my team’s new skating coach, Maddy Macer, to get me back into shape so I can play again.
One problem: we can’t stand each other.
We clash constantly. She thinks I’m grumpy and arrogant. I think she’s spoiled and inexperienced.
But the more time we spend together, the more I realize I was wrong about this beautiful and feisty figure skater.
With her training, I’m playing better than I have in years.
