“When you told us your stories, we just couldn’t believe you were who you said you were. We now know you are and have some information,” Steel replies, looking sad.
“And how exactly do you know? Even if you took DNA, there’s nothing to compare it to. Because there’s no way you’ll ever convince me that either one of our dads or moms cheated. So, tell us how exactly you confirmed it?” I’m trying to stay calm so as not to upset Starla, who is still just watching me.
“When I got back from the war, Iron and I decided to come home and take over for my father. When we got there, we were shocked when we walked in the door, and there sat a man that could have been one of your dads. I was fucking confused and thought I was hallucinating. Come to find out, your dads had a younger brother who never knew about them,” Steel replies before Wesson cuts him off.
“He was our dad.” My head snaps up from Starla so fast that it pops.
“So, wait, you’re telling us you’re our cousins?” Vixen asks, looking excited.
I, on the other hand, can't do this. No way was there someone who could have kept us out of foster care and Fire and Ice’s clutches. That can’t be right. I don’t want to hear anything else. I’m done with everything—time to start my new life away from this insanity.
I stand then kiss Starla on the head before handing her to Vixen. I kiss Vixen on the forehead before I turn and walk out of the conference room and right out the front door. Never once stopping while I swear I’ll never be back.
You would think that at this point, I’d stop challenging fate.

I’m fucking exhausted from Starla not sleeping and trying to find a way to take down the asshole who killed my brother. Not saying he didn't have it coming. He and Star fucked this man over and expected him to just walk away with no consequences makes me want to kill them both. Add the most important fact: I’m lying to my brothers.
Edge’s smell wraps around me, causing me to go stiff everywhere. My dick hasn’t even tried to wake up since she walked away from me a week ago. I’ve tried just about everything. As soon as Edge has her in her arms, Starla stops crying and touches Edge’s cheek in awe.Yeah, baby girl, I completely agree with you. She is something.
I can’t believe she stopped crying. Starla has been crying in some fashion for the last two days. Star wants nothing to do with me outside of the show we put on in front of everyone. I don’t understand how she can have absolutely nothing to do with her baby. It just shocks me. Prez isn’t happy I brought Starla into the meeting, but everyone was busy, and Star is nowhere to be fucking found.
I turn on the T.V. and get my laptop synced as Prez starts talking about what we know. Edge gets more and more upset with every word. She is going to bolt. I review the DNA results while Prez tells his story.
Edge’s head snaps up so fast I swear she just broke it. Emotions run across her eyes when Vixen asks if they are cousins. Edge has made her decision. She stands slowly, not taking her eyes off Prez until she turns, kissing Starla on the forehead, handing her to Vixen, and kissing her forehead before turning and leaving the room.
Vixen jumps to go after her. “Edge! Edge!Logan, stop, hear them out.”
Starla starts crying, making Vix stop in her tracks. She turns, looking at Torch with pleading eyes, not wanting to run after her with Starla in her arms. She lays Starla on her shoulder, shushing and bouncing to calm her.
“Steel, will you finish?” Vixen asks.
“Long story short. Mac married my mom when we were about three years old because our father was a piece of shit. When we were eight, they had another set of twins. When the twins were four, Dad had a massive heart attack and passed away.” Wesson says, very matter of fact.
“Holy shit. We have family! That’s awesome,” Vixen says as Starla calms down.
There is a knock on the door, and in steps the sea witch herself. “I was told Razor had—Why the fuck does that bitch have my baby?”
Oh, fuck. She didn’t just … Fuck, this isn’t good. Vixen goes so stiff, if you touched her, she’d shatter. I rush from my seat and take Starla before she turns to the dumb bitch at the door.
“Who the fuck do you think you’re calling a bitch?” Vixen asks, eerily calm.
“Seeing as you were the one who had my baby—you.” Star steps up nose-to-nose with Vixen.
“Okay, you are new here, so I will give you the benefit of the doubt. Razor, if you don’t want to be cleaning up her blood and brain matter, you might want to take her and your baby and educate her on who is who around here.” Vixen never looks away from the dumb bitch in front of her.
“You got it, Vixen,” I growl, walking over and grabbing Star by the back of her neck before turning toward the door and leading her out of the room.
Starla has started crying again. Is this two-bit whore the problem? As we make our way through the clubhouse, Blue returns from town. So, I walk over to her with a screaming Starla. She takes one look at my grip on Star’s arm, the way Starla is screaming, and most of all, the promise of death in my eyes that she doesn’t even ask questions. She takes Starla out of my arms and heads for the kitchen.
“Come to Nani. Let’s see what has you so upset,” Blue coos at Starla.
I turn, never letting go of Star. This bitch better figure this shit out. If she doesn’t, there is nothing I can do to protect her, and if I can’t protect her, I can’t protect Starla. I’ll burn in hell before letting that little angel deal with shit her parents have brought her into. We make it to my room, and I slam the door behind us. I turn Star so she has no choice but to look me in the face.
“Do you have any fucking idea who you just insulted? Have you learned nothing in the week you have been here?” I hiss between clenched teeth.
