Clubbing
Malliko
When Tania and Clara told me they wanted to go clubbing, I wasn’t hard to convince. It had been on my list of places to research, and it gave me a chance to spend more time with Clara.
What I didn’t understand was how it could take so long for them to get ready, but once we left, they both looked extraordinary with styled hair, make-up, and dresses that accentuated their figures. Clara kept tugging at her dress and whispered to Tania, “I’m not sure how you convinced me to wear something this short.”
“When you’ve got it, show it.” Tania grinned. “The men are going to be drooling over you.”
“Drooling?”
My frown made Tania explain, “Not literally of course. It’s another of those sayings that you like so much. Don’t you produce more saliva when you see something you really want to eat? Men will drool because they’ll want to eat her juicy behind. Metaphorically speaking of course.”
It was a radical change to see Tania laugh so much but I welcomed this new side of her.
The night club was an inferno of sound. With my height I was able to look over the head of most of the people and see that the middle of the club had a large dance floor where at least a hundred people were dancing. Their faces kept changing color depending on the red, blue, and yellow hues from the projectors.
“It’s like they’re all dancing their own dance,” I said with wonder in my tone. “Is that normal?”
Clara stood next to me and looked in the same direction as me. “What else would they do?”
“Dance in unison.”
“You mean like a specific choreography?”
“Back home we have places you can dance as well but we sync up and dance the same dance, all of us.”
“If by syncing up you mean that you communicate telepathically, then you have your answer right there. We don’t connect that way. And we enjoy dancing in different styles.”
“Do you want a drink first or are you ready to dance?” Tania asked Clara and before I knew it, they went to the dance floor. I watched them move in seductive ways. It was like watching a nature show with a mating ritual that attracted the attention of people around them.
My eyes were glued to Clara and so I didn’t notice the two women walking up to me.
“You left your shirt at my place. Do you want it back?”
Swinging my head to the side, I saw the two brunettes smiling at me.
“Are you talking to me?” I asked them.
“Yes. I was asking about your t-shirt.” The woman to the left was wearing colorful makeup and large hoop earrings. Her dress was as tight as Clara and Tania’s.
Shaking my head, I held up a hand. “You must be confusing me with someone else. I’ve never been to your place.”
Giving me a flirtatious wink, she said, “I know, but maybe you’ll get an invitation if you play your cards right.”
“My cards.” I had a feeling that she was using another of those metaphors that humans threw around constantly. “What cards would that be?”
The two women exchanged a laugh and then the friend who had some funky yellow glasses and a sharp pink lipstick ontouched my shoulder. “How about some strip poker? If you win, you get us both naked.”
By then, I had no doubt that they were coming on to me.
“I’m flattered, but I’m actually with someone,” I explained and nodded to the dance floor, where Clara was dancing with Tania. She met my eyes for a moment before turning her back in a dance move.
When the two women left, I managed to get the bartender to give me a non-alcoholic drink before a younger guy came and hit on me.
He took my rejection well, but more people kept coming and it disturbed my opportunity to observe.
An intoxicated woman with long blonde hair tried to physically drag me to the floor. With my much larger and heavier body, I wasn’t moving from the barstool that I sat on. Smiling at her, I explained that I preferred to observe people dancing rather than dance myself.
