“That’s a dangerous idea,” Hawk finally spoke up. “Bullets flying all over the place and he may not even be there.”
“He’s got a point there, Prophet,” Redemption added his agreement.
Prophet turned to Redemption. “We had planned to do that before when he took Glory.”
“We saw no other way, man,” Redemption said. “I didn’t like that plan but we didn’t have another option.”
“And this option is impossible.” Prophet looked over at me again. “He could hurt her or worse once he gets a hold of her.”
“But he won’t get to her,” Liv argued. “We allow them to go all the way to where he’s probably hiding, then we grab her back before he gets her.”
“I don’t like it, that could go wrong too,” Prophet replied as he looked angry. “If they have her and we attack them…” He leaned his head back as he seethed. “Fuck!”
I grasped his arm. “But we will be where they have your dad.”
“And what if Deacon kills him?” Prophet countered. “Or uses him as a hostage to get away. Then kills him.”
“This is what we face when we have a kidnapping or a hostage situation,” Liv stated. “If we can’t find the napper or the hostage, we need to get creative. Do what they don’t expect.”
Prophet turned all the way around to look at her. “And what is the survival rate in these creative counter measures?”
Liv stared back at him and replied, “About 80 percent.”
“So it all comes down to odds. Like fucking gambling with lives.” Prophet turned back to me. “Jewel…”
I crossed my arms over my chest. “We have to try. And we have to do this fast, Prophet.”
“Like right after he gives us the time for an exchange,” Liv interjected. “You then have this argument and she takes off. We wait in the tunnel, then follow.”
“What if they see you tailing them?” Prophet asked.
“We put a tracker on her,” Logan spoke up now. “That way, they can fall back and not be seen.”
“They won’t think to look for a tracker on her,” Liv added. “As Deacon will believe she panicked and ran.”
“And I will look the part as all of this scares the bejesus outta me,” I stated.
Prophet looked into my eyes. “I can’t let you go, Jewel.”
“You have to, at least for a little while. Like I doubt it will be more than an hour.” I glanced over at Liv. “Right?”
She shrugged. “Depends on how far away he is. But that’s a good estimate, yes.”
“It’s an hour too long,” Prophet stated quietly.
Chapter Five:Right Hook
Prophet
Rage, fear and more rage. That is all that I felt. Going along with this plan would be insane. I looked over at Redemption.
He raised his hands up at me. “Man, I can’t tell you what to do in this. It’s not something I am willing to do. I’m your prez, but I’m also your friend.”
“It’s not his decision,” Jewel spoke up.
I stared over at her.
She let out a soft sigh and said, “He’s your dad, I know, but this is my choice, Prophet.”
