Prophet turned his head to glare at her. “Follow…”
“Yes, Prophet.” Liv nodded. “We have Jewel leave the same way Cinnamon did, which the cameras did catch. Then she will make it to the road and—”
“—Deacon grabs her?” Prophet’s voice rose. “Are you insane?”
“They will lead us to your dad,” Talon said.
“Youthink…” Prophet growled. “He may have my father somewhere else.”
“Maybe but we doubt it. Right now, that is his trump card,” Liv explained. “He would keep that close to his vest, so to speak.”
“And that is where Jewel will be!” Prophet exclaimed. “Close to his fucking vest! No way, man. No way.”
“So, then tell us what your plan would be,” Talon asked him.
Prophet kept shaking his head. “Find him some other way to get at him and I will blow his fucking head off.”
“What other way though?” Liv questioned him.
Pushing his fingers through his hair, Prophet let out a long frustrated breath as he didn’t answer.
“We have sent so many crews out there for more than 2 weeks,” Talon said. “Turning over literally every fucking rock. We haven’t found a sign of him within a 25 mile radius.”
“So this might draw him out?” I asked.
Everyone in the room looked over at me.
“Doesn’t matter, we aren’t doing it,” Prophet stated firmly.
“But—”
“No,” Prophet cut me off.
I stood from the chair and told him, “We have to do something! That call for a trade will come anytime now.”
“And when it does...” Liv looked at me. “You and Prophet will have an argument.”
Prophet glowered as he turned his head to stare at Liv. “We are already having that.”
“A fake one,” I said as I nodded. “I get it. Then I will run off.”
Again, Prophet turned to look at me. “No, you won’t.”
“We have to trick him in order to trap him,” Talon stated.
Clenching his fists, Prophet turned to glower at Talon. “Would you let Katya do this?”
Talon’s expression went hard. “Man, you are crossing that line.”
“Oh?” Prophet growled. “Tell me just where is the line when I allow my woman to get captured and hurt? Where is that fucking line, Talon?”
The room filled with tension as these two large and forbidding men again faced off.
“Yeah, you wouldn’t allow it,” Prophet stated to Talon as he scoffed. Then he slowly gazed around the room at the group. “None of you would.”
Talon shook his head as he looked more than frustrated. “If someone comes up with a better plan, I am all ears.”
“We take him at the trade-off,” Prophet announced.
