“Because they aren’t wildfires, dipshit,” Raven mutters.
“The humans can’t get close, and the bulls are terrorizing the wolves. Why? Why go after the wolves when they aren’t technically Greek?” I ask.
“Maybe they are trying to draw us out?” Raven chews her lip nervously.
“We aren’t going to figure this out here. I think we’re starting to draw attention to ourselves.” I scan the humans nearby.
“Okay, B, let’s go book a room and we can discuss it there.” Raven loops her arm around mine and we move to the front desk.
The woman behind the desk smiles at us. “Do you have a reservation?”
“No, we were just passing through and got a bit tired. Do you have a suite that sleeps six people?” Raven asks.
“Those suites are terribly expensive for one so young.” The woman eyes us curiously.
I pull the black card out of my back pocket and hand it to her. “We’re on a business trip and need a place to collaborate before we call it a night.”
Her eyes widen as she takes the card and runs it through the machine. “How many nights will you be staying with us?”
“Just one. We are back on the road early tomorrow,” I say.
“You’re not going to stay and enjoy the city?” She frowns like that doesn’t make any sense.
I shrug. “We are in a bit of a hurry to get to our destination, but maybe another time.”
Why is this woman so curious about us? Is she Greek or just making small talk? I narrow my eyes, attempting to sense something from her, but she is either blocking me or she’s entirely human.
The woman holds out my card and several key cards to me. “Your room is on the nineteenth floor. The elevators are that way. Enjoy your stay.”
“Was that weird to you, or just me?” I mumble to Raven as we head back to the guys.
“I think she was just curious because we’re young and not itching to go enjoy the Vegas nightlife.” Raven waves the guys over.
“We got a suite so we can all be in one place,” I say as Jayden reaches for me.
We follow the front desk lady’s instructions to the bank of elevators and push the button to call one. I lean my head on Jayden’s shoulder, completely exhausted.
We shuffle into the empty elevator, and I push the nineteen to take us to our floor and slump against the wall.
Draven glares at Jayden’s hand in mine. “So, you all are gods touched now and I’m just a fucking demigod. Life really isn’t fucking fair.”
“You stood back and let the rest of us nearly get killed by that thing.” I shake my head, exasperated.
“If I would have known that would happen, I would have helped,” Draven sneers.
Jayden stiffens at my side. “Yeah, because the only reason you would actually help us with something was if you got something out of it.”
“Can we all just stop arguing? I’m fucking sick of it. Draven, you did that to yourself by standing back and doing nothing. Don’t get mad at us because of your own inaction. We don’t even know what this means to be gods touched.” I throw my hands up in frustration.
“Whatever. You guys just get all the luck and enhanced powers and fucking gifts from the gods.” Draven leans against the wall.
The elevator finally opens on our floor, and I breathe out a sigh of relief. I don’t want to be in that small space with this jackass a second longer.
We wander the endless halls, searching for the right room, before we come to the end and double doors sit before us.
“Is this it?” I ask with a frown, looking at the key.
“Did we ask how much this was gonna cost?” Raven whispers next to me.
