“Fucking assholes,” she says, glaring at the Hermes table.

He’s staring at me when I chance a glance in that direction. “Yup, exactly.”

I scoop eggs onto my fork and take a bite of the cheesy goodness and groan.

“Who’s an asshole?” Jayden says from behind me, making me jump.

“All the demigod assholes who think it’s okay to try to fucking kiss me without my permission,” I growl.

“What the fuck?” Jayden says, dropping his tray on the table with a clang and turning to the Ares table.

“Not that asshole this time.” I grab Jayden’s arm, pulling him back to the table.

Why the fuck does he even care? He’s just as big an asshole as the rest of them, only in different ways.

“Sit down.” I grab Jayden’s arm, pulling him down in the seat. He’s been glaring at the cafeteria angrily for the last several minutes.

Raven rolls her eyes, picking up a sausage link and taking a big bite. “You aren’t allowed to use your hellfire, remember.”

“I’m not. Just warning them,” he grunts.

“It’s not worth getting kicked out of here just to roast an idiot.” I shake my head, taking another bite of my eggs.

“You did seem pretty freaked out when I met you here,” Raven says with a raised brow.

“After the things he said the other night, and then he corners me in the stairwell of the dorms, yeah, I was a bit freaked out.” I throw up my hands.

Jayden stiffens next to me, his shoulders bunching around his ears. “Who. Was. It?”

“He’s not worth it, Jayden,” I say, but my eyes flit involuntarily to where Draven is sitting.

Jayden catches where my attention is and stands so quickly the chair scrapes across the floor and topples behind him.

“Draven,” he roars.

“Fuck. Why is he doing this?” I whisper to Raven.

Her eyes are wide as we both jump to our feet and race over to Jayden.

“What do you want, Jayden?” Draven sneers.

“Did you assault Beth in the stairwell?” he roars, but luckily his hellfire is absent. His shadows are writhing like living rage under his skin.

“What the fuck?” Draven’s gaze snaps to me. “You told him I assaulted you?”

“I didn’t tell him it was you, and what would you call cornering me in the stairwell and not listening when I said stop?” I cross my arms over my chest, not backing down.

“She told you to stop?” Jayden is about to lose any control he has over the shadows that are practically melting off him toward Draven.

“Um, Jayden?” I say, the fear in my voice thick. Liquid shadows cannot mean anything good, right?

He doesn’t listen and no one else seems to realize the danger that’s literally leaking off him.

“How would you like to be held against your will?” Jayden’s chains snap out at his words.

Draven backs away but he’s not fast enough and the chains wrap around his wrists, ankles, and throat.
