He looks so much like the Jayden I was so close to falling for, but I have to remember that Jayden is fake. He doesn’t care enough to trust me.
I take a step away and he lets out a frustrated groan, shaking his head before stomping away.
“Whatever, Beth.” He slams the door shut behind him before I can respond.
I flop back on my bed and pull the pillow over my face and scream into it.
Damn frustrating asshole.
I rush through my morning routine. I slept right through my alarm, so I am in a rush to get out of the dorm and down to the cafeteria.
I race down the stairs until I reach the Hermes floor and Draven is leaning up against the wall in the stairway. I sigh inaudibly and hold my books in front of me like a shield.
I haven’t been alone with Draven, and after what he was telling his buddies the other day, I am not exactly excited by the current turn of events.
“Beth,” he says, pushing off the wall.
“Yeah, Draven? I’m in a bit of a rush.” I sidestep him, but he blocks me.
“I could see that by how fast you came down the stairs.” He steps closer, like he has any right to be in my space.
“Then why are you blocking my path?” I raise a brow and step to the other side, but he moves with me again.
“I just wanted to talk to you about what happened yesterday. I’m sorry I was so pushy.” He reaches a hand up, but I take a step back, not wanting him to touch me.
“It’s fine. I really have to go.” I try to dodge again but still he blocks me.
“I just want to be around you,” he whispers, backing me up to the wall.
“Draven, stop.” His chest is practically glued to my books and my arms are trapped between us.
“You’re seriously telling me that you don’t want me?” he asks with a cocky smirk.
He leans in close and I can’t do anything but turn my head just as he tries to kiss me.
“What the fuck is it with guys touching me without my permission,” I yell, pooling my magic in my palm and zapping his stomach where my hands are trapped between us.
“Ow, what the fuck, Beth?” He jumps back, groaning and bending at the waist.
“You’re lucky I didn’t kick you in the nuts. That’s what I would have done at the bar in the mortal world,” I scream back at him.
He stretches back up, breathing heavily and glaring at me.
“That fucking hurt,” he says through gritted teeth.
“Good, I’m tired of damn entitled demigods thinking they have a right to something that they don’t.” I shake my head and rush down the stairs.
Raven meets me at the door to the cafeteria and raises a brow at my furious expression. “Today is turning out to be just as bad a day as yesterday. Two asshole encounters before I even left the dorms.”
“Jayden told me that there was something important so I’m assuming he was the first asshole?” She chuckles as she opens the door.
“How did you guess?” I smile sweetly and follow her inside.
Draven walks in a couple seconds behind us, rubbing at his stomach, but thankfully does not try to talk to me as we fill our plates with eggs, sausage, and pancakes.
“Was the other one Draven? I don’t think he noticed there’s a burn hole in his shirt,” Raven says as she sets her tray on the table.
“He was touching me without my permission. I’m sick of people thinking they can take what they want from me.” I flop down into my chair.
