"Jax," I snapped. "Calm down."
"Jax, man," Owen stepped up, placing an arm between Jax and Alex. "We should go."
"Yeah, we should all go," Alex said, his gaze flicking back to me as he reached out for my hand, but before I had the chance to touch Alex, Jax's fist slammed into the side of Alex's cheekbone. Chaos broke out in the small hallway as that one punch turned into a massive brawl.
Owen and the team tried to pull them apart, and screaming echoed down the halls. Okay, the screaming was me, but I didn't know what else to do. They were going to kill each other.
It took what seemed like forever to pull the two men apart. Both their chests heaving with anger as they stared at each other with pure hatred.
"What the fuck are you even doing here, Kai?" Jax hissed through fast, rapid breaths.
"I..." I stuttered. "I'm always here."
"Maybe you shouldn't be anymore," Justin Blackwood said. "In fact, I think we should all call it a night." Justin's gaze was fixed on Alex.
"He's not fucking staying with her," Jax lurched forward, but Owen's grip tightened, and Justin jumped in to help.
"Bring him in here," Cam said, stepping out of the doorway to our room.
"I have my own fucking room," Alex growled, whipping the blood from his lip as they drug Jax into my room.
"She's not staying in your room either."
"Kaia, you should say goodnight," Cam said, her face so serious I nodded. She disappeared inside and slammed the door as Jax's team cleared the hallway.
I was so confused. What just happened?
"You should go deal with that." Alex pointed to the door before turning and storming away.
"Alex, wait."
He whipped around, shoving a hand through his dark hair. "Am I missing something?"
I knew what he was asking, but I didn't know the answer because whatever he was missing, I think I was missing it too. "I don't know."
He took a fast step forward into my space. His thumb pressed underneath my chin, and he cupped the back of my neck, forcing me to look at him. "Kaia, I like you, and I will fight every day for you, taking a thousand black eyes and bloody noses if there's something to fight for." He pressed his body into mine. "But if your heart belongs to someone else, then you're not mine to fight for."
My heart didn't belong to Jax anymore because he didn't want it, but he dropped his hands before I could tell him that. "You should go deal with whatever that was and text me once you make it back home. We can talk then."
He was giving me time to be sure that it was him I wanted. The truth was it seemed like an easy decision, like he was an obvious answer, but I didn't understand why Jax acted like hehad a few minutes ago. Alex turned and strolled away, and I didn't stop him. He was right; I needed to deal with this before fully committing to him. Jax and I needed to close all the doors to move on.

Pushing through the cracked door to my hotel room, I tried to push down my anger. "Everyone out," I growled, pointing toward the door. "Now. I need to talk to Jax."
"Take it easy on him," Owen whispered as he passed. "He's still processing his emotions too." What the hell did that mean?
"Go, please."
"What the fuck was that, Jax?" I huffed out in one breath when the door slammed shut, and everyone was gone.
"Why the fuck would you come here with him?" he grunted, his tone laced with irritation and anger.
"Why wouldn't I?" I sneered. "I've come to every game since my dad met your mom. Just like I've gone to every event for everyone, and truthfully, I'd be at every one of Trystan's concerts right now if I could."
"Why did he have to be with you, Kai?" His tone was softer as hurt flashed behind his blue eyes. "Did you want me to be jealous?"
I blew out a heavy sigh as the anger I'd been harboring disappeared. "Why would you be jealous, Jax?" I shrugged, sinking onto the bed across from him. "This was your choice." Ihad no intention of making Jax jealous because I didn't think he cared enough to be jealous, but maybe everyone was right, and I'd been inconsiderate by bringing Alex to Jax's game.
