Page 5 of Something Borrowed

My senses are so heightened that I am drugged by her lips.

She steps back. My eyes are on her mouth. Plump, perfect pink lips.

She smirks at me and I hold her stare.

Then just as quickly as she arrived - she leaves. Walking back to her friends as though I was nothing but a dare - something to conquer.

I lean my elbow against the bar counter and watch her.

What the fuck was that about?

Who the fuck does she think she’s playing with?

I chuckle again, amused by the sheer audacity of it.

But I can’t deny that she has my attention. She doesn’t give a fuck at all, and I love that about her.

I watch her for a while, enjoying the way she moves on the dance floor and deciding how I want to handle this. But I know one thing for sure - I’m not done with her.

Verity A’Vara is not paying me any attention.

Although, despite her ignoring me, I can still feel the tension between us.

I push off from the bar and nod towards my acquaintance. “It was good to see you, Jim.”

“You too, Red.”

I make my way towards her.

When I step onto the dance floor, I wrap my hand around her waist from behind. I notice her friend’s eyes are wide with shock or fear, as she takes a big step back and bumps into her other friend.

I enjoy having that effect on people. They should fear me.

Verity only glances over her shoulder and asks. “Can I help you with something, Vece?”

I grab her jaw, tilt her head back, and kiss her with much more force than she gave me. Pressing my hand against her stomach to hold her in place, I push my cock against her back.

She doesn’t even flinch.

The kiss becomes more intense with each passing second. Her head tilted back, and her long neck exposed. I run my hand down her throat and wrap my fingers over it, squeezing ever so slightly.

I press my mouth close to her ear and whisper, “Come with me.”

Without hesitation, to turns away from her friends and lets me take her hand.

“Verity -no- what the fuck are youdoing?” one of them shouts.

She glances back at them and winks. It makes me laugh.

Fuck.

She’s incredible.

She truly doesn’t care. She’s not afraid of anything. Hellfire.

Why do I see so much of myself in her?

Pushing through the crowd and letting her walk in my slipstream, I lead her off the dance floor and out of the club.
