Page 85 of Sold to the Alphas

One Month Later

It had been a little over a month since we’d returned to our shared territory, and so much had changed.

Raol was dead, and a new alpha had been appointed to his territory. Other leaders had also been selected for those territories whose alphas had been lost in the chaos after the broken pact. They were appointed after much deliberation and careful planning, and each possessed strong values and good morals that aligned with the changes being implemented across territories.

Wolves didn’t have to live under corruption anymore. This new order was a chance for us to rebuild a fair society.

Most of the omegas now lived in the united territory, where they’d been offered freedom, shelter, protection, and the chanceto start fresh lives with more independence and agency than ever. Being a part of that change—helping to improve the lives of omegas like me—filled me with pride.

There was still a lot of pressure on my alphas. They had taken on so much responsibility, and there was still so much to be done. The world was definitely changing for the better, but it wasn’t an instant fix, and the future was still a little uncertain.

I sat on a little bench outside the central building, my eyes gazing out over the horizon. The vastness of the land stretched out before me, familiar but somehow different now. The scent of the earth was sharp and clean—the air carried a sense of renewal, and it almost felt like the beginning of something new. A part of me still felt unsure. The packs would return to their original homes soon to run free in their own familiar lands.

I’d been worrying a lot lately about what would happen between my alphas and me. Would I lose them—one at a time or all at once—as they journeyed back to their home territories? I didn’t know what the plan was, and I was almost too afraid to ask. I couldn’t stand the thought of not having them here with me, or of any of us being apart.

The door creaked open behind me, and August quickly joined me on the bench. “Hey,” he said softly, his eyes filled with warmth and love for me.

“Hey,” I responded, smiling back at him. His hand rested on mine, and I instinctively leaned against him, grateful for the solidness he offered.

“Penny for your thoughts?” he asked, a teasing note in his voice.

I chuckled softly, though there was a quiet ache in my chest. “Just...thinking about everything. It feels like so much has changed so quickly.”

August nodded, his thumb gently tracing circles on the back of my hand. “It has. But it’s all been for the better, hasn’t it?”

I looked at him, his words sinking into my heart. I smiled, the warmth of that realization spreading through me. “It has. I just...don’t know what happens when winter comes.”

His expression softened, and he squeezed my hand. Before he could say anything, though, Marshall joined us. He’d changed a lot in the last month and was generally more relaxed and softer than when I’d first met him, but he seemed different today—excited.

“It’s time,” Marshall said, smiling.

My brow furrowed in confusion. “Time for what?”

Finn stepped into view behind Marshall, a delighted grin on his face. “You’ll see,” he said.

I glanced at August, who offered me a small but knowing smile. “Close your eyes,” he said gently.

A shiver of anticipation ran through me. “What’s going on?”

“You’ll find out,” Finn teased, walking toward me with a playful glint in his eye.

“Please, Elisabed, just close your eyes,” August repeated. “Just for a moment.”

I hesitated again before closing them. I felt their hands on me, clearly intending to guide me somewhere.

We walked for a while, their holds on me keeping me steady. I trusted them, but I was feeling a little uncertain. What were they planning? So much had changed already.

“Okay,” August finally said. “Open your eyes.”

As my eyes fluttered open, the world came into focus, and I saw a small, beautiful house.

My breath caught in my throat. “Is that...”

“It’s for us,” Marshall said softly. “A home for us and our pups.”

“You made this?” I asked, my heart swelling with emotions I could barely describe. “For us?”

August nodded, his hand still resting on my back, guiding me forward.
