Ethan nodded. “Takes a few minutes to work through his system, but yes. He has to swallow all of it, though. So I suggest spiking his drink with it.”
“Or jamming it down his throat,” Cole added. “If it comes to that. I’d like to think we’re more civilized than that.”
“I’m not.” Bianca reached out to open the case. She stared at it for a moment before her fingers lightly brushed against the vial. A weird feeling rushed through me. A feeling that made my guts twist.
I jerked her hand away from it like it was fire.
“No. You don’t touch it,” I husked out at her. “Ever. I’ll handle it.”
She leaned in and pressed her lips against mine, dragging me away from the moment. I kissed her back, letting our reality slip away.
Vin cleared his throat.
I broke the kiss off and smiled at her before turning my attention back to the horsemen.
“Thank you. For the gift. We hope we can use it.”
“Of course.” Enzo inclined his head at me.
“I do ask that you never share it with anyone, reproduce it, or let it get out of your hands. In the wrong hands, I don’t want it reproduced and used. It’s too dangerous.” E gave me a solemn look.
“I will keep it hidden,” I assured him. “You have my word.”
He eyed me for a moment before settling back in his seat and looking over my head, clearly done with the conversation and going off to whatever torment he dwelled in.
“How is everything? The babies? Any news from Drake and Levin?” Enzo asked.
I shook my head. “No word from them. The babies are doing well. We see the doctor again soon for another check-up.”
“It’s almost time, huh?” Cole asked, his focus on Bianca. “When are they due?”
She rubbed her belly. “October.”
“Almost in the third trimester,” Cole murmured, sitting forward. “Would it, could I. . . uh, can I just touch your belly?”
“Of course.” She made to get up, but I tightened my hold on her, my overprotectiveness in full swing.
“Dominic,” she murmured. “It’s fine.”
I released her, not wanting to look like a prick, and caught Fox’s eye. He gave me a sad, knowing look as Bianca got to her feet, then went and stood in front of Cole, who was quick to place both hands on her bare belly.
A smile spread over his face.
“They’re moving a lot,” he said in awe. “It’s amazing. Wow.”
The look on his face made me realize just how much kids meant to him. I knew without a doubt that if he ever got to have his own, that kid would have a good father. I relaxed in my seat, letting him have the moment since his had been stolen.
“It’s so incredible,” Cole murmured. “There’s life in here. You made this, Dom. Fallon.”
“It is amazing,” Fallon agreed softly.
“Wow,” Cole repeated, his hands still on her belly. He looked to me. “I don’t mean to intrude. I really don’t, Dom, but this is magic to me. I-I’ve been praying every night that my Rosebud gets pregnant.Another happy accident. She’s so focused on her own life, and I think she forgets how incredible the life we create could be if she’d just let me try. . .” his voice trailed off. He cleared his throat when Enzo rested his hand on his shoulder. “When the babies are born, can I come to see them? And hold them?”
What a big fucking softie. Cole Scott, a baby lover.Who’d have ever thought the psycho could be so gentle and hopeful? It made sadness surge inside me. This guy wanted a kid so much. I truly hoped his girl gave him the baby he craved. Lord knew I’d gone through it with Bianca.
“Of course.Uncle Cole,” Bianca said, cradling his face.
He looked up at her, his blue eyes shining with happiness and his hands still on her belly.
