The answer made Enzo laugh.

“Well, we’re here with something new to show you.” Enzo nodded to Ethan, who opened a small briefcase and turned it toward me.

A single vial sat on a bed of velvet.

“What is it?” Vin asked, looking to E.

“I call it spice,” E murmured.

I raised my eyebrows at him.

“Sugar and spice? Interesting.” Fallon looked at the vial. “What’s it do?”

“It kills you,” E said simply.

I blinked at him. “What?”

“It’s an untraceable drug that shuts down the body in minutes. I’ve perfected it.”

“So you’ve used it before?” I asked, staring at the tiny vial.

“Perhaps. It doesn’t matter my sins.”

I glanced at E. The guy looked like he was in a constant battle with his demons. My heart went out to him. He was struggling. Always. I didn’t know his story really, just that he was a recovering addict and had nearly died with their girl last year. Past that, he was a mystery to me.

“The point is, we’re giving it to you to take out Matteo,” Enzo said. “We have another vial which we have back at the house. I doubt we’re going to ever get close enough to administer it to him.”

“How is it administered?” Fallon asked.

“It has to be put in his drink,” Cole said, coming to settle on the couch next to Fox. “So you might have to get chummy or nab him somehow and stuff it down his fucking throat.”

“Impossible. Not only does he have his own men, but now he has mine,” I said, shaking my head.

Enzo nodded. “Well, it’s our contribution. It’s better than nothing. It’s a quiet death. More peaceful than he probably deserves, but it beats having to shoot your way out.”

“You’re right.” I scrubbed my hand down my face. “OK. It’s something. You’re right, it is better than the nothing we currently have.”

“Perfect.” Enzo closed the case.

“How much?” I asked.

Enzo waved me off. “Nothing. We want him gone just as much as you do.”

Bianca came into the room then, her blonde waves a wild mess and her belly poking out from beneath her crop top.

I caught Cole zeroing in on her, and I was quick to reach out and pull her onto my lap. I kissed her temple and held her close, the babies moving beneath my hands.

“Queenie,” Enzo greeted her with a smile.

“Zaddy,” she answered with a smirk at him. I grunted at that nickname. Definitely not my favorite.

He winked at her. “We were just discussing killing your former father-in-law.”

“Oh?” She stared back at him. “How?”

“Spice. It’s a small vial of a drug that’ll kill him in a few minutes if it’s ingested. We just need to figure out how to get it in him,” Fox said.

Bianca nodded. “And that’s it. He takes it, and he dies?”
