“Thank you,” he whispered. “You don’t know what that means to me.”
“You’re welcome, you psycho,” she said with a soft laugh that made him smile up at her before he went back to staring at her belly in wonder.
Enzo gave me a helpless look. I shrugged at him. Cole was an enigma.
“You guys are going to give your dads a run for their money. Damn, they’re really moving in there. Is it uncomfortable?” He looked back up to Bianca.
“Sometimes,” she said. “I like feeling them, though.”
Cole nodded. “What are you naming them?”
“Sante,” I answered.
“Ah, a saint,” Enzo said with a smile. “That’s pretty perfect.”
“He’ll be a better man than me,” I said, fucking praying he would be. He had Bianca as his mom. I knew anything to do with her would be heavenly. She was just too perfect.
I looked to Fallon at the same time Bianca did. He’d not yet mentioned to me a name for his son.
Fallon cleared his throat. “King.”
I raised my brows at that.
“King?” Vin called out. “Like. . . us?”
Fallon nodded. “Yeah. Kingston, really, but he’s a king, so I wanted to honor that.”
“Brave move,” I said with a soft laugh. “Better hope you don’t fuck up.”
Fallon smiled at me, completely unmoved by my words. “I’d rather die than fuck anything up. You’re my family, and I fucking love you. Even Levin.”
Vin let out a loud laugh. “Wait until I tell him you dropped the L word on him.”
We all laughed with him. The image of Levin scowling at Fallon entered my mind before he gave him the finger. It was probably a pretty accurate scene.
God, I missed Levin.
“I think they’re great names,” Cole said, his hands still firmly in place on Bianca’s stomach. I was beginning to wonder if he was ever going to let her go.
“What are you going to name your kids?” Vin asked him.
A sad look washed over Cole’s face. “I don’t know anymore. It hurts to think about, since it may not happen. Rosalie says she wants kids, but she’s so focused on her music that I fear babies are a long way off for us. If they even ever happen. The last round really fucked us up.” He bit his bottom lip. “But if I have a girl, I want to call her Ellie. Ellisandra. My Ellie-Phant and Elli-gator.” He was quiet again. He looked so fucking heartbroken that it made me fidget.
Cole let out a sigh, and his hands fell away from Bianca’s belly.
“Take care of them, dandelion,” he murmured. “They’re the future, you know?”
“I know,” she answered, backing away from him and coming back to me.
More sadness swept over his face. Enzo wrapped him in a one-armed hug and pulled him close, whispering something into his ear. Cole nodded and wiped at his eyes before sitting up and fixing a smile on his face.
“Sorry. I can be a little bitch about kids,” he said, looking sheepish.
I waved him off. “I think we all are. It’s all good.”
Conversation was easier after that. It almost felt like we were just a group of friends hanging out, but I knew better.
We were in some deep shit.
