Hedda didn't want to stay still anymore. She wanted to break free from Rogan's hold and go to them. She wanted to feel their hands wrapped around her.
She wanted to feel safe again.
Rogan growled and tightened his hold. He lowered his gun. Was he going to let her go?
"Fuck," Rogan whispered.
Before she knew what was happening, his arm let go of her. She didn't waste a moment as she dashed towards Papa and Daddy.
"Daddy! Papa!" she yelled.
They wrapped their arms around her, and she broke down crying. They were really here. They were going to keep her safe.
"Shhh," Papa whispered. "You're okay."
Now she was okay. Being with them made everything okay.
"Daddy," she whimpered. "Papa."
She was reminding herself that they were right here with her. They weren't going to go anywhere.
Relief flooded her as she sank into their arms. She didn't have any strength to continue to hold herself up.
"We've got you, Princess," Daddy said. "We'll keep you safe."
She snuggled into his shoulder. She knew she missed them, but she didn't realize just how much. Hedda loved snuggling up into their shoulder or chest.
"I've got you," Daddy whispered.
Tears continued to run down her face. She was so happy they were here for her. She was so glad to be going home soon.
"Hedda," Rogan said.
Her whole body went still. Was he going to make them leave without her? He had said she was going to marry someone else and wouldn't see them again. Was that still his plan?
Hedda pulled away from Papa and Daddy, turning around to face her brother.
Rogan's face turned into disgust when he saw her crying.
"Don't you fucking dare look at her like that," Daddy growled.
Rogan glared at Daddy. "She's fucking crying."
"And?" Papa said.
"She's showing weakness."
Hedda looked down at her feet and wiped away the tears on her face. She was never going to get away from him saying she was weak because she cried.
"Shut the fuck up," Papa said. "She can cry if she wants to. It's not a sign of weakness."
Her heart soared as Papa defended her. She never had someone to do that for her against her brother.
"Just fucking stop and don't cry in front of me," Rogan said.
Hedda nodded her head. She could try and do that. She didn't know how possible it was, but she would try.
"She can cry when she wants to," Daddy said. "She doesn't have to hold her tears back if you're in front of her."
