Me: Is it naked sexy times?
Ollie: You’ll have to wait and see.
Me: Tease.
Me: How are the eggs?
Ollie: They miss Papa.
Me: They miss Papa? Or does Daddy miss Papa?
Ollie: Both.
“Are you busy?” Rayne asked. How long had he been standing there smirking while I was lost in my thoughts of my mate?
“I was just chatting with Ollie.” I waved to the chair next to my desk. “Have a seat. I have a few things I need help with.”
“I thought you might need this.” Rayne handed me a coffee. Sitting down, he took a drink from his own cup and let out a long yawn. “Sorry, we haven’t been getting much sleep this week. Whatcha need?”
“Everything okay?” Worry grew as I contemplated why my brother and his family weren’t sleeping.
“Oh yeah. Xavier has just been having a few nightmares.”
“Are you sure they aren’t premonitions?” Power can sometimes start young in our family.
“Well, we are hoping they are just night terrors. Some of the coven members are starting to think he is getting psychic visions after a few of them came true.”
“That has to be scary.”
“For him and us. We hate that our little boy is so scared. To be helpless in fixing the situation.”
“How bad are they? Should we be preparing for another attack?” I started a mental list of things I needed to keep my family safe.
“Don’t worry, bro,” Rayne said. “They’re scary because they seem real to him. And some have manifested. But so far, they are simple, mundane things, like cousin Billy tripping over a stray toy or Auntie Trudy getting a new kitten.”
At least my nephew didn’t have to deal with anything horrid.
“How are Ollie and the eggs?” Rayne stretched and put his coffee down on the desk.
“Good. It’s been a month since they were delivered, so I think they should be hatching any day now. Ollie spends most of his time in the nest with them, checking for signs they are ready to meet their parents.”
“I am so happy for you guys. And I can’t wait for the kids to all be able to play. I have so many vacations in mind for the cousins.” Rayne would be the one to plan a family vacation for all of us.
“I can’t wait.” I rolled my eyes, thinking about the mischief our kids would soon create.
“Now, can we discuss what had you all stressed out when you called?”
“Here.” I handed the note to my brother and waited for him to read it.
“What the fuck is this?” Rayne’s brow furrowed, and he looked down at the words again.
“I found it on my desk this morning went I got in. I haven’t been in the office much lately, so I am unsure how long it’s been here. Or who dropped it off.”
“And I can’t sense any energy coming from it. Not even a faint trace of the sender or their intentions. I would bet it has been spelled so we wouldn’t be able to.”
“That’s my thoughts as well.” I stretched my back and rolled my shoulders. “I have no clue who this could be.”
“Well, it looks like someone from your past or at least someone who has had contact with you enough to develop an obsession.”
