“I want to show you how much pleasure we can bring each other.”

When he was stretched enough, I covered my cock in lube. I admired Wolf’s perfect ass in front of me.

“Are you sure you want this, alpha?”

“I want my omega deep inside me.” Wolf looked at me over his shoulder, and I drove into his tight, waiting hole.

“Oh my fucking—” There were no words to explain my rapture. Electric currents zapped through my veins at the pleasure of my mate taking me in. I wasn’t going to last long. Working myself in and out of him, my movements grew more frantic as we both drew closer and closer to our climax. Soon, we both hit the peak.

“That was amazing.” Wolf nuzzled my neck as we lay in the grass, recuperating.

“It was.” I tried to enjoy the moment, but now that we’d both come, my mind was roaming elsewhere. An omega can only be apart from their eggs for short periods of time. “We need to get back to the eggs. It’s been too long and my beast is anxious, although these few minutes alone were worth it.”

“I know.” Wolf kissed my head and got up to clean up. “I need to hold them, too. This was worth it, but it has been an hour.”

“Don’t tell me that. A few minutes makes it seem like I’m not such a horrible father.”

“You aren’t horrible.” Wolf helped me up from the ground. “It’s important for fathers to ensure they also have time alone. As long as they’re in trusted hands, Rayne will keep them safe.”

He was right, but it still didn’t stop the guilt from filling me. “I wonder if the guilt ever lessens.”

“According to my parents, it doesn’t.” Wolf put his arm around me. “But eventually, the kids get old enough that they are the ones leaving you alone for too long.”

“Hey, we just got ours. Hush about the getting older part.” I pushed away and playfully punched Wolf in the arm. “Let’s go back to our babies before they leave for college.”

Wolf kissed me one last time and shifted into his fur. I soon found myself back in the night sky. I needed to return to my babies.

Chapter Fifteen

Wolf

You were supposed to be mine. Don’t worry. I’ll fix it all.

Chills ran down my body as I read those words in the family business office. I had yet to learn how long this note had been on my desk since we kept a skeleton crew now at the actual office and no one knew anything about it. Who sent this note to my office?

Written on pink paper and slightly scented like an omega, the note was left on my desk at some point in the last two weeks I had been out of the office. I didn’t recognize the scent, the writing, and it wasn’t signed. I had no leads.

Do I tell Ollie?

He could have seen this as a sign that my playboy ways weren’t over. But I was supposed to say everything to him since we were mated.

Shit, maybe I can do some research first.

“Rayne,” I said the moment he picked up the phone. “Can you meet me at the Romano Building? I need your help.”

“Give me ten. Will that do? I’m down the block.”

“See you soon.”

I disconnected and sat at my desk, thinking about who would leave me such a note. Most of my ex-hookups had taken the end of my reign as the king of hookups well. They weren’t interested in more from me and respected the fated-mate thing. Were they lying?

My phone dinged with a text message, and I smiled at my mate’s face popping up in my notifications.

Ollie: I miss you.

Me: I miss you, too.

Ollie: I have a surprise for you tonight.
