Instead, he scared the shit out of Bodhi who was standing there with Holly.
“What the hell?” he asked.
Then, he saw who it is.
Holly looked startled.
“I’m so sorry. I thought it was Trey trying to annoy me. I didn’t realize it’s you. Are you guys okay?” he asked, not sure why they’d be at his place.
Granted, Bodhi lived a block away, but still…
It was almost midnight.
Unfortunately for Bodhi, he had been awoken by the radio in his house. Holly was with him while her mother was away, and they’d just gone to bed after a marathon movie night.
The random radio turning on had nearly made him shit himself. He wasn’t sure how the psychics handled that, but it was hella creepy.
He explained.
“Uh, Jake woke me. We have trouble. Trey has been trying to talk to you.”
Julian wasn’t sure what was going on.
He opened those doors, only to find Bethany and Trey right next to him and they were talking a mile a minute. Instead of focusing on them, he waved.
“Come in,” he said. “What’s going on?”
Bethany was in his face, and he stopped her.
“Bethany! Boundaries. Give me a second. I was asleep. Let me get Holly settled.”
The poor little girl looked sleepy, and like she had been pulled from her bed—because she had been.
“I’ll take her upstairs to my bed. We’ll talk. Give me a second, okay?” Julian asked, knowing it was going to be bad. Bethany had left with the ladies.
She shouldn’t be back, and he didn’t need Holly to hear anything that might upset her.
She’d been through enough.
If Trey started using the radio, the little girl would be privy to adult things.
When he left, Bodhi headed for the couch, and the radio in the room kicked on.
“BREATHE. SHE. IS. SAFE. THERE. IS. NO. SAFER. PLACE. THAN. WHERE. SHE. IS.”
Bodhi closed his eyes.
He was freaked out for a myriad of reasons.
First, Jake had crossed, but when Hailey nearly died, he was the one who had met her, and tried to get her to go away from the light. Now, he wasn’t anchored, and from what he’d been told, and he researched, that was dangerous.
Would he hurt the ladies?
No.
Him?
He wasn’t sure.
