She stared into his eye.
“Forever, Lucian.”
He was grateful.
He had the best wife in the world.
And that was the truth.
Meanwhile…
Ridge felt discombobulated, and all of it had to do with the distance between them. They always had that connection before in the static, but outside it?
This was new.
Touching the man soothed him, and if he wouldn’t let that happen anymore…
That was going to make him incredibly broken. Their connection was energy based.
Sometimes, Ridge needed to touch his partner to ground himself. It was just the nature of the beast that they called their psychic gift.
Now, he was pulling away, and that scared him.
He quickly got changed out of his soiled clothes and called his wife.
He needed to talk to Wynter.
His heart hurt, and only she could help him heal it.
When she answered the video call, she immediately knew something was wrong.
“Ridge, babe, what happened?” she asked.
He held nothing back.
“Something went down here,” he said.
There were tears in his eyes.
“Oh, God. Who got hurt?” she asked. “Do you need me to get there?”
He shook his head and started at the beginning.
“No one is hurt. I think we’re okay,” he said. “Lucian and I went into the static.”
She listened.
“I got shoved out, and he got lost in it. When I came to, he was safe, but something went wrong. I was so weak.”
Wynter was scared.
Ridge looked terrified, and that meant something bad had happened.
“I’m getting on a plane, Ridge. You look scared.”
Ridge knew he needed to get it out.
“Later, he was with Bishop in their room, and he was out of control,” he said.
