parents would be very proud of you.”
“Thank you, Grace.” Sabrina smiled and wiped away tears. Chase put his arms around her and
Grace patted his arm.
Kathy leaned over and kissed her cheek. “You were wonderful.” She laughed. “We went to the
bathroom and couldn’t get back to the table. Figured you’d arrived.”
Sabrina laughed, feeling like she was floating on air. The perfect night. It couldn’t get any better.
Chase led her to the seat next to Richard. She was about to sit down when Damian appeared at
their table.
“Sabrina!” he said, reaching out for her. She straightened and went to him. “You were wonderful,
as I expected.” He kissed her cheek and grinned broadly at her. “As I was coming back inside, all I
heard were people raving about your dancing.”
Sabrina’s cheeks warmed at his praise. “Thank you, Damian. You’re very kind.”
He shrugged. “It’s the truth.” He glanced at Chase and nodded. “You’re a lucky man.”
Chase put his arm around her waist and grinned. “Can’t disagree.”
The servers arrived with trays of food and Damian moved to his chair across the table. “Save me
a dance?” he asked.
“Absolutely,” Sabrina said.
Chase stood and held out his hand to Sabrina as the servers cleared the dessert plates. “Let’s dance.”
She beamed up at him as he led her onto the dance floor and held her in his arms, gently swaying
to the music. The food had looked and smelled delicious, but he’d hardly tasted anything. His stomach
churned the entire time, thinking about what would happen after dinner.
He glanced down and saw Sabrina smiling up at him. “What?”
“I was thinking about the night we met.” Her dimples made an appearance. “I really thought you
didn’t like me.”
“You asked if my mom made me dance with you!”
She giggled. “You didn’t look happy.”
He took her hand in his and pressed it to his chest, above his pounding heart. “You made my heart
pound then, just like you do now.” He chuckled. “The whole time, I was yelling at myself for falling
for a sixteen-year-old girl.”
“Is that why you looked so upset?”
