falling, and let out a sigh of relief. If she’d meant to kill them, they’d be dead. They were only
knocked out.
“Sabrina, you didn’t kill them. You know you don’t want to do that.” He kept his voice soft. “You
love us. Your Master is making you do things that hurt people. Please . . .” He reached to her. “Come
back to me. We’ll free you from him. We’ll help you.”
Sabrina’s eyes narrowed, but then she blinked several times and furrowed her brows. “I . . .”
Chase inhaled sharply. Was she coming out of the spell? He stepped forward. “Sabrina. I love
you.”
She blinked rapidly and bit her lip as she looked up at him. “I . . .”
“Sabrina!” Damian shouted from the driveway.
Chase could feel his fury from where he stood. He started to give Damian a triumphant smile
when suddenly he was on his knees. Sabrina’s hand grasped his hair and pulled his head up and back,
exposing his neck. She held a flaming dagger in her hand, arm pulled back and ready to strike.
“Kill him!” Damian shouted.
“I love you, Sabrina.” Chase gasped, trying to make eye contact with her.
She looked at Damian for a moment and back at Chase, who tried his best to show with his face
and eyes how much he loved her. “You don’t have to do this, Sabrina. Come home with me. Be free.”
She blinked several times, arm still poised to strike.
“Kill him!”
She stared into his eyes, burning jade he would never forget.
“I love you, Sabrina,” he repeated and closed his eyes, ready for whatever she decided to do. If
these were his last moments with her, he wanted to remember her as he knew her, not as this soulless
Immortal.
Time stood still as he waited for her decision.
A flash of pain seared his head and blackness enveloped him. He’d failed to win her back and
now the world would be destroyed.
Damian frowned as Sabrina stalked across the snowy lawn. He’d seen her strike Chase. It was
satisfying to see him lying motionless in the snow, though Sabrina’s body had blocked him from
witnessing the final blow.
He need not fear interference from those bastards anymore.
