Sabrina walked around the car and slid into the passenger seat without a word. Damian backed
out of the driveway. He glanced over at Sabrina, whose eyes were closed. He smiled. “Rest for a few
minutes. We have a busy day ahead of us.” He pushed a button on the steering wheel to call Neil.
“There are bodies in the front yard. Get rid of them.” He turned a corner and headed toward the
Capitol.
Several minutes later, the phone rang. Damian pushed the button to answer. “That was fast.” Too
fast. Even for Neil.
Neil sounded out of breath. “There’s no one out here.”
Damian slammed on his brakes and the car behind him honked. “What do you mean?”
“There aren’t any bodies.”
“Is the car there?”
“No.”
Damian slammed his fist on the steering wheel and looked over at Sabrina, whose eyes were still
closed and face devoid of expression. He studied her for a moment and then let out a long breath.
What the hell had happened? Had Sabrina disobeyed him? He didn’t think that was possible.
“My lord?”
Neil wasn’t a stupid man. He wouldn’t say there were no bodies if it weren’t true. But where the
hell were they?
“I’ll call you back later.” Damian hit the end call button on the steering wheel and continued to
look at Sabrina. She didn’t move.
Remember . . .
The man’s voice from her dreams ricocheted in her mind as she sat in the car’s seat next to Damian.
Remember what?
Sabrina’s mind felt jumbled. What happened? The tall, handsome man made her feel funny, but in
a good way. She liked how she felt when she was near him. He told her things that felt good. That felt
right.
Who was he?
He felt familiar. Like she should know who he was, but for the life of her, she couldn’t remember.
Even now, his memory faded.
She winced as she remembered the anger in her Master’s voice, yelling at her to kill him.
