I cradle my belly in an instinctive gesture.
“She’s perfect, and I am feeling a lot better. And now we’re back.”
“Guess who visited the gallery?”
I can tell who it was by the way the excitement in her voice.
“Andre Garcia.”
Her eyes go wide in surprise. “Yes, how did you know?”
“We kind of bumped into each other a while ago.”
“Then you talked to him?” she asks, urging me with her hand to continue.
“Yes, it’s just not the right moment.”
“When destiny knocks on your door, you don’t ignore it. So you need to call him!”
I bite down on my lip. “I don’t know, and it’s been a while… I have other things that need my attention.”
“But long before getting married and having a baby, you had a dream, and you owe it to yourself to fulfill it,” she says, chastising me.
Lorene is right and it’s the wakeup call I need.
“Thank you.”
“Oh, well, I always make sure my protégées don’t get lost on their way. I am like a shepherd,” she says then her phone rings and I suppress a smile.
I send Kian a text.
I just got chastised and called a sheep.
WHO do I need to fire?
I roll my eyes at him and answer.
No one. How are you?
Trying not to think about you and failing.
Mr. Reyes, you do know I am yours?
Well, Mrs. Reyes, I am making sure you stay that way.
It is as if he has found the direct connection to making my heart somersault. After spending the morning with Lorene, I take the elevator upstairs to meet with the girls for lunch.
Inside the restaurant, the smell of spices makes me salivate.
“Is it possible to have multiple meals on one plate?” I ask the server and she offers an understanding smile.
“I am sure it can be done.”
“Thank you. Will you please bring me an iced tea?”
Even though my baby is mistaking my bladder for a trampoline.
Tara steps out of the elevator. Her eyes scan the lounge and when she spots me waving at her, she rushes to me, a warm smile on her face.
