“Look at you!” she says before patting my belly. “Hello, sweetie pie.”
Kira greets her with a kick to my belly and Tara’s eyes almost pop out of her head.
“She likes you. She mostly reacts to Kian.”
“Already daddy’s girl?”
“You can say that.”
“That will change when she’s a teenager.”
“Yeah, right.”
Laughter bubbles out of us, and Aubrey darts out of the elevator next, flicking her hair back.
“I’m late, I know.”
We exchange knowing smiles, and she adds as she takes the seat next to us. “But I had to upload new pics to my blog.”
“How is it going?” I ask and she says,
“I love being my own boss.” Her eyes go to my belly, and she squeals.
“You can see the bump now.”
They order, and Aubrey turns to me and asks, “Are you sure there is a baby in there?”
I chuckle and Tara huffs at her, exasperated. “Aubrey, she throws up half her food…”
“Damn, sorry.”
“Hey, it’s fine,” I say and place a hand over my belly.
“Tara should be the godmother. I am fine with that; I’ll be the cool aunt.”
I love Aubrey even more for opening this subject.
“How do you pick between your best friends?” I ask, looking at them both.
“But you don’t. I am okay with that. I can barely take care of myself, much less a baby.”
“I would be more than happy and honored, but only if you’re sure,” Tara says, her eyes filling with hope.
“And she deserves it,” Aubrey adds. “Go to her place, it’s as if she’s expecting her baby.”
Tara blushes. “I want to be prepared.”
I am so grateful for these two.
“I love you both.”
“Ask her already,” Aubrey insists, nodding at Tara.
The thing is, I can’t decide between them.
“I am sorry, but I want both of you to be her godmother.”
“I don’t think that’s how it works,” Aubrey says, plucking out her phone to google it.
