“After she threatened to kill someone, I just ran, and some guy helped me after I almost fell.”

“Some guy?” My brow raised in confusion.

“Yeah.”

“You didn’t say anything to me that someone saw you.” Nasir and I made eye contact.

She fidgeted with her hands.

“I mean I didn’t think it was serious. He didn’t say anything.”

I ran a hand through my hair, blowing out a frustrated breath.

“How did he look?”

Nicco pulled out his phone.

“Um… probably around five-nine, dark hair, a small scar on his cheek, and a tattoo that was covered on his neck.”

“I’ll look into her database for any descriptions.” Nicco dialed our team back at the office.

“You’re coming to stay with me, Amelia,” Dani said.

“I’ll be fine,” Amelia assured her.

“Someone could have given Addison a heads-up,” Nasir suggested, and I rubbed my cheek in thought.

“She needs protection.”

“I’ll be fine,” Amelia called out.

“What about your parents, Amelia?” Dani challenged.

“We’re going to speak with Addison, but in the meantime, she needs to be watched.”

“I’m not some trophy that’s delicate and can’t protect herself,” she fussed.

“Aydin’s right, Amelia. You need to have protection, plus your family,” Nasir explained, and I knew what I was about to say would put me in an awkward situation.

“She’ll stay with me.”

All eyes looked at me.

“What!” she shouted.

“You’ll stay with me. Your apartment isn’t safe.”

“That’s not needed, Aydin.”

“You’ll be under twenty-four hours of protection until we figure out what Addison is planning, plus your parents.”

“No.”

“No?”

“I can protect myself and my family.”

“Amelia.” Dani watched as Amelia marched out of the living room.
