“Ronald was arrested for tampering with your car. Josie came to me afterwards and told me. They’re still investigating but brought him in for questioning,” Kamden explained.

“Let me guess, she happened to confess this detail out of the kindness of her heart,” I quipped.

“Baby. I failed you once, but I promise. Moving forward, your safety is my priority,” Kamden told me.

“That’s not happening,” Malik demanded.

“You have no say in our relationship,” Kamden said.

“I have to agree with my son this time, Kamden. The people you surround yourself with obviously have something against my daughter,” Mom said.

“Mrs. Coleman, I promise she’s in good hands,” Kamden said.

“Kash, can you leave please?” I said.

“Kamden,” he stated.

“What?”

“Don’t push me away by calling me Kash. You know me better than anyone,” Kamden stated.

“I need space please,” I answered.

“It’s getting late, and she needs rest,” the doctor said.

Kamden peered into my eyes, looking for any trace of my love. After the news of Ronald setting me up to get killed, I couldn’t trust him.

“Okay, I’ll leave for now. But we will talk soon,” Kamden said and leaned down to kiss me on the lips. I turned my head, and his lips landed on my cheek. Kamden looked brokenhearted, and I wanted to apologize, but my emotions were all over the place.

“Arianna, we’ll be back tomorrow,” Essence and Rylee said, walking out behind Kamden.

It left me with the doctor and my family.

“Did the crash affect my baby?” I asked.

“No, the baby is strong. You’re both lucky,” he replied.

“Thanks, Doc,” I said.

“I’ll let you get some rest, and we’ll talk more tomorrow.”

The doctor shook hands with Mom and Dad, then headed out with the nurse behind him.

“You’re staying with us when you get out, baby,” Mom told me.

“I don’t want to put you both out,” I said.

“You’re our child. Never say anything like that again,” Dad told me.

“So, I’m going to be an uncle?” Eddison Jr. asked.

“I don’t know,” I muttered.

“What do you mean?” Mom questioned.

“Nothing, Ma.”

“Arianna, listen to me. What happened is not your fault or Kamden’s.” She held her hand up to stop me from interrupting her.
