“We could go wherever you want, baby. Just pick one of the ports we do business in.”
Footsteps echoed, getting louder as the person got closer and closer.
I held onto the arm around my waist and turned my head to look up into those pretty red eyes, trusting him to keep us safe. I grabbed the back of his neck and tried to act like this was all normal for me, but my heart was racing and I had no idea what to even say that might sound realistic.
I didn’t like boats. They freaked me out, honestly, but that didn’t matter right now.
“Mexico would be nice this time of year, don’t you think?” Liam gave me a wicked smile and it was really fucking with my head. “Or maybe we should go to Morocco.”
I did want to go to Morocco but not on a boat. Even if it was a really nice, luxury boat. I’d much rather fly.
Liam chuckled like he knew exactly what I was thinking. He nibbled on my lower lip, cutting me off before I could accidentally say the wrong thing.
“If you don’t like yachts, I could buy another jet.” I dug my fingers into his neck when he spread my thighs wider, his hand sliding down my stomach. “How does a long, private flight to Morocco sound?”
“I’ve always wanted to join the mile-high club,” I admitted.
The delight in his eyes was just as good as praise, but it was his hand sliding down to cup my pussy over the fabric of my pants that made me forget why we were even doing this.
Each tiny kiss was turning my mind to mush, and I spread my thighs farther apart, wishing he’d touch me even now.
“Oh, I’m so sorry, I didn’t know someone was down here,” a feminine voice exclaimed.
I jumped off Liam like I was doing something wrong…which I was.
My face was so red I knew it would sell the act, but holy shit, I’d never been this embarrassed in my life. I almost turned to go down a dead end just to get away from the woman who’d walked in on us, but Liam grabbed my hand before I could.
“I was just showing my omega what it means to be the vice president of a company like this.” Liam sounded like he was trying not to laugh and I forced myself to face the woman, but I kept my eyes down and gave her an awkward little wave.
The woman gave me a strained smile in return, pushing her glasses up her nose before turning to see what Liam was doing. “I apologize, Mr. Valor. I would have waited if I’d known. Since I’m down here, is there anything I can help you with?”
“No, I’ll get out of your hair, but thank you.” He logged out and then smiled at the woman still standing there, waiting. “I’m sorry, but I don’t recognize you.”
“Oh, I’m Helen Moss. I’m the Director of IT, Mr. Valor.” She held out her hand with an awkward little laugh.
Shit, this was going to be a problem.
It wasn’t just some random computer nerd who came down to check the server room, but the director of IT.
CHAPTER 22
Lucy
Liam studied Helen’s hand as if she were offering him a disease instead of a greeting, and I glanced up to see she had bright blue hair.
Even I would remember someone with blue hair.
“My omega is a bit anxious about our relationship right now. You understand, don’t you?” Liam gave her a polite smile as he stood, pulling me into his side like we couldn’t possibly be separated, even for a handshake.
I dropped my eyes again before she could notice how closely I was studying her.
“Of course, I understand.” She gave him another awkward laugh and then finally spared me a look. “It’s a pleasure to meet your omega, Mr. Valor.”
I turned my body into Liam’s to make her think I was painfully shy, even hiding my face as much as I could. It wasn’t that far from the truth either. Not with the way she was looking at me, searching for whatever it was that would make a legacy alpha act like such a fool.
“I appreciate the sentiment.” Liam didn’t sound like he appreciated it at all. “We’ll be on our way now, Ms. Moss.”
He led me back down the corridor, giving the other woman a wide berth. The way he didn’t even look at her was the epitome of a snobby legacy alpha who couldn’t be bothered with the peons working underneath him.
