“Olivia, I hope you like your living quarters.”
“It’s perfect, Mister Damon. Thank you.”
“Just call me, Damon, please.”
She smiled. “Okay.”
“Let’s eat,” I told everyone. While we ate, I looked at Kara. “I was thinking maybe we could have a Halloween party and invite some people over; we could even announce the baby.”
“Oh. I guess we could announce it but most people wait until after the first trimester before they do, because that is a crucial time for the baby.”
“Yeah. We can absolutely wait.”
She smiled with relief.
“It can be a low-key party. I want you to meet my cousins. And we can even dress up and pass out candy as well.”
“Oh my gosh. That sounds like fun.”
“Great. I’ll get everything set up. All you have to do is think of what kind of costume you want.”
A smirk splayed on her face. “I think you could easily play the devil.”
“Hey!”
Olivia and even Matteo laughed when Kara said that.
“Oh, let me guess, you want to be an angel.”
She shrugged. “I’ll be the angel if you are the devil.”
“Well, that didn’t take long to sort out.”
She laughed. “It was easy.”
I pointed to Matteo and Olivia. “You guys are coming to the party, right?”
Olivia was already shaking her head. And Matteo had his mouth hanging open because he didn’t know what to say and then he finally shook his head.
After lunch Olivia and Matteo disappeared, which gave me some alone time with Kara.
“Have I said how happy I am you are here?”
“I can’t remember,” she said playfully.
“I am. I’m very happy. Want to watch a movie in the living room?”
Her eyebrow quirked up. “And here I thought that room was just for show.”
“Come on.”
“Oh, this is a new couch,” she noticed.
“Yeah. It’s much more comfortable than the other set I had. I gave it to Susie because she said she would take it.”
“I always thought she had her own quarters here.”
“She did at one time, but now she has a nice apartment. She gets here super early and leaves late in the evening. I told her she could have the evening off. We can order pizza or something for dinner.”
