She sighs. “Yes, it started after you had gotten together,” she finally confesses.
I’m blown away.
“How could you do this to me?” I ask again.
“We didn’t mean to hurt you, Gio,” Allegra tries to explain, but I don’t want to hear it. I’m disgusted, humiliated, embarrassed, hurt, and blindsided.
“But you did,” I tell her honestly, which has her bursting into tears again. I pull out my phone and quickly type away.
“Who are you messaging?” Giada asks nervously.
“None of your business,” I bite back.
“My guess is he’s messaged Luca and Natalia.” Allegra sniffs through her tears.
My eyes widen at the disdain falling from her lips.
“Why?” Giada asks frantically. “I’m sorry, okay? We don’t have to make any irrational decisions. We can go downstairs and pretend this never happened. Enjoy the night for our families and then break up after,” she suggests.
“You’re seriously wanting me to go downstairs and pretend I didn’t catch you with someone else?”
“It was only a woman, Gio. It’s not a big deal,” Giada suggests.
Not a big deal? Am I in the twilight zone or something?
“She’s my sister, not some random. The two of you are best friends,” I yell at her, and then the sinking realization hits me.
“We came as quickly as we could. What’s the SOS?” Natalia asks as she enters the room. She stops and looks between thepissed-off faces of her sister and my fiancée. “What did you do?” she asks our sister.
Allegra rolls her eyes and folds her arms, refusing to give her an answer as if we are the ones with the problem.
“Apparently, the two of them have been having an affair for four months,” I explain, pointing between the two of them.
“What the hell?” Luca states.
“An affair? The two of them? Giada and Allegra?” Natalia questions.
I nod my head.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Luca yells at our sister.
“Wrong with me? Nothing,” she defends.
“You cheated with your brother’s fiancée; how can you not see that’s wrong?” Natalia adds.
“It wasn’t my fault. I’ve been in love with Giada for years. I had no idea she felt the same way, too,” she screams.
The room falls silent at her admission.
Love?
“How could you do this to Gio?” Luca questions.
Giada and Allegra look between each other but don’t answer him.
“You don’t care about anyone but yourself, do you?” Natalia sneers.
“Fuck you,” our sister retorts.
