“Come on, let’s find you the perfect dress,” she says.
“Thank you so much for an amazing day.” I hug Yvette goodbye. Giorgio and Luca have arrived to pick us up from the boutique. Zoe and Mackenzie left earlier in the day.
“Did you have fun ladies?” Luca asks.
“We certainly did.” Lilly grins as she kisses her husband.
Giorgio looks over at me and I can see the longing in his eyes to be able to do the same thing to me.
“My feet ache. Can we head straight back to the hotel?” Lilly groans.
“Of course, my love,” Luca says, staring down adoringly at his wife.
“I have to catch up with friends, so I’ll grab an Uber,” Natalia says, waving us goodbye as she disappears up the street.
“You guys take the car, I’ll take Paige to her apartment. I’m sure she wouldn’t mind freshening up before dinner tonight,” Giorgio says.
Luca and Lilly look over at us. “You think walking around Paris is a good idea?” Luca asks.
Giorgio’s face falls. I’m guessing it’s not. The driver opens the door for us. “The hotel is around the corner; the driver can drop us off first and then he can take Paige to her apartment,” Luca suggests and Giorgio huffs as we get into the car. It’s not far to the hotel, and Lilly and Luca get out of the car just as Giorgio’s phone rings.
“I’ve got to take this,” he says, holding up his phone. “Meet you in the lobby at seven for dinner,” he tells his brother, who frowns at him before ushering his tired pregnant wife away.
“Thanks for that,” he says, grinning at me as he hangs up my phone. “Didn’t think I was going to be able to get rid of them,” he says as we settle back into the car as it takes off into traffic again. Lucia’s Paris apartment isn’t far from the hotel they are all staying at. I’ve stayed there a couple of times when I’ve visited Lucia. Girls’ trips to Paris were always one of my favorite things.
“It’s killing me not being able to touch you in public,” he whispers to me.
“Me too.”
We sit in silence until the driver pulls up out the front of the apartment.
“We’re going to have to be quick, in case,” he warns me.
I nod, I will not mess this up. I step out of the car confidently as if I have always done this and head toward the foyer where a handsome young man greets me.
“Welcome, Countess Johnson, it is a privilege to be of assistance to you,” he says.
It’s still a trip being calledCountess. “Thank you,” I say as I follow him through the ornate antique marble foyer. He stops and grabs an envelope from the wooden reception desk and hands it to me.
“Here are the keys to your apartment. Your bags are already waiting for you there. Allow me to get the elevator for you,” he says as I take the envelope from him. He presses the button to my floor and then closes the brass antique elevator doors behind us.
“This is surreal, I’m heading to my apartment in Paris,” I tell Gio as a giggle falls from my lips.
“This is your life now, you better get used to it.” He grins.
“Is this how you’ve always lived?” I question him.
He shrugs his shoulders. I take that as a yes. The elevator stops and Gio opens the door for me as I pull out the keys and open the door with them. I throw the keys on the side table and rush toward the glass windows, knowing exactly what I’m going to see when I open them and step out onto the balcony. My hand twists the ancient knob as I pull open the large glass doors that lead out to the balcony and there it is in all its glory, the Eiffel Tower. That sight will always give me goosebumps. I loved this apartment for that view and Lucia loved it because right underneath us were the designer boutiques.
Giorgio hovers behind me, not daring to step out onto the balcony which overlooks the street. That’s right, he’s not meant to be seen with another woman. Letting out a sigh, I step back into the apartment and close the glass door.
“Come here,” Gio says as I step toward him. He reaches out and cups my face, bringing our lips together in a slow, languishing kiss that sends shivers all the way to the tips of my toes. “I’ve wanted to do that all day.” He grins.
“Is that all you’ve wanted to do?” I tease.
“Hell no, let me show you all the dirty thoughts that have been running through my mind.” He smirks before launching himself at me.
