“That makes me feel like an ass,”I sighed and pressed my forehead against the window.

“You’re not an ass. You’re just following your instincts and that’s not something you were allowed to do for months while you hid. So, he can wait as long as it takes. Once he knows what happened, Blithe will be okay too.”

“I hope so, because I miss him so much.”

“You haven’t even properly met him yet,”Starry chuckled.

“Tell that to my heart,”I said as the annoying floater returned to the corner of my vision.

Sooner or later, I’d have to ask Dara to look at my eyeball. Something was definitely up.

Chapter Seven

Blithe

“Incoming,” Daniel said, tapping my shoulder.

“Hey, you two,” Liam’s voice reached my ears, but I didn’t turn to look at him.

I’d never met Bobby’s mate in person before, but I heard his voice plenty of times when Bobby called home. It also helped that picked up a fair bit of fame for his Omega Sight.

“Did Bobby send you to budge us out of Starry’s walkway?” Daniel asked, amusement tracing his words.

“No. I have a message. It had been quiet on the spirit front until Blithe and Duke arrived, but it seems they brought someone with them. Okay, to be fair – not with them, but out of the woodwork.”

“A spirit message?” I arched a brow but didn’t look away from where Cord sat with his furry head pressed against the window.

“The spirits are the only ones who get to turn me into an errand boy. Not even Bobby gets to do that,” Liam laughed, holding out his hand.

I almost moved to shake it but realized he was trying to hand off a sticky note to me.

“Since when do spirits write?” I glanced at him.

“They don’t, but he wanted me to write the note down so that he knew I got it right,” Liam shrugged. “At this point unless they ask me to kill someone, I just do what they want.”

“Who was it?” I asked. “I don’t think I know anyone who died besides my grandparent, Ignatius and Mariam.”

“It wasn’t them. He didn’t give me a name. He had his own sign off and I didn’t ask many questions. I wrote it twice.Once for you and once for Duke. Same message, but different meanings according to him.”

“Take the note, Blithe,” Daniel said, and toed at the heel of my shoe with his.

“Fine,” I held out my hand for it.

“You know, most people are more excited about spirit messages than this,” Liam shook his head and stickied the note to my palm.

“I would’ve been if it arrived just a bit sooner. Now, I can’t move. I’m stuck to the spot. I’ll have to live here if Cord never comes out.”

“He’s very dramatic. Maybe he can help with the theater,” Daniel laughed. “I don’t remember him being this dramatic as a kid.”

“Remind me to punch you later once I can look away from him,” I said, but didn’t dare glance away from the window, afraid Cord would disappear on me entirely.

“Read the damn note,” Daniel said.

“What’s it to you?” I barked.

“Cord has two dead parents.”

“It wasn’t them,” Liam shook his head. “I’d know if it wereherand this guy certainly wasn’t a cat shifter. He looked nothing like Cord either.”
