The tears have long dried up. I’m still upset about everything, but this is just too much.

“Do you know where Stavros is this morning?”

“Excuse me?” I ask.

“Just making an observation. Anyway, I have to go to a meeting. I will be in touch.”

I drive the rest of way back to the apartment in silence.

Chapter Twenty-Nine

Stavros

As we pull into my father's compound, the black van is not in the driveway. I wouldn’t expect it to be out in the open for anyone to see if they are doing surveillance on my father.

Andreas hasn’t asked many questions and has willingly allowed me to drive to my dad’s home. He has sat in the passenger seat quietly while looking out the window. I think this is the longest time we have been in the car together without talking about sports or women. Since I’m with his twin sister, I wouldn’t expect him to want to know how amazing she is in bed.

Miklos and Greg are at the front of the gate, ordering the gate staff to let us in. The minute the car is parked, we are being rushed into the house and led to the fall out shelter on the other side of the house.

The fall out shelter was created because cell phone service doesn’t work in the room, and all electronic devices are zapped of power the minute they enter the room. We are searched with metal detectors before entering the room with Andreas not even making eye contact with me.

Meeting my father for the first time is scary for anyone involved. Since Andreas knows of my connection, I assume he’s concerned.

The shelter is a room with a large table in the middle. Only I know of the guns in the walls in case of an invasion. Also, only I know of the door leading to the outside in case of an attack. The shelter isn’t on any building plans for the house, making it impossible for anyone to know of the room.

Sure enough, my father is seated at the front of the table. He stated that when I was a teenager, he didn’t try to play the part of a made man, but he’s looking at it right now. He’s in a suit with a drink in front of him.

“You must be Andreas,” Andamos greets my friend.

Andreas nods while taking a seat. “Yes. You must be Andamos Bilias,” he states.

My dad chuckles. “I’m guessing you’re wondering why you’re here.”

My friend nods. I take a seat next to my friend to provide some support. Meeting with my dad while he’s in his element can be scary for someone who’s not knowledgeable of the rules.

“Your bid came across our table for the hit you tried to put out on Derek Bancroft. I’m assuming you didn’t expect it to come to us.”

Andreas looks at me, and I can see he’s wondering if I’m trying to set him up. I would never try to set him up and I don’t want him to think I would bring him here to die. However, some shit needs to get handled quickly.

“I didn’t expect it to go far.”

“This is what I’m going to need from you,” my father continues with an eyebrow raised. “I’m going to need you to forget you did that. I’m also going to need you to do some favors to help me forget your name, too.”

“What the fuck, Stav!” Andreas growls at me.

I throw my hands up. I went to my dad because I wanted to protect Audrina. His sister. I went to him to ensure his sister was safe from Derek and these are the consequences. Some consequences occur in everything, and this is one of them.

“Bro, I get you’re pissed. Listen to my dad.”

Andreas looks between us and is trying to figure out how to get out the room. He tries to go for the front door but is stopped by Miklos.

“The only way you’re getting out of this room without being dismissed is through the shoot,” Miklos mutters.

It was a running joke for the longest time when I was a kid.The shootis a little door off the side of the room leading to a secret garage. It became the shoot when my father started using it to push bodies through.

Andreas looks murderous as he looks at me. He’s pissed, and I can’t blame him. I didn’t set him up. My dad isn’t going to kill him, but he’s going to want something in return for keeping his mouth shut.

Miklos points back at the seat that my now ex-friend sits back in.
