“I think it’s more than that. I know you heard my warning. To say you didn’t know what it concerned is ridiculous. Besides, don’t you know that it’s impolite to eavesdrop on someone’s business?”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t think—”
“You don’t think,” I snapped.
I advanced, sweeping her into my arms. She didn’t even try to run. And she should have, because I was losing my grip on the mask I wore. “If you had, you would have kept your ass locked in the room and out of my sight. But look where you are now,” I said, giving her thigh a good squeeze as I headed for the room at a fast pace.
A small sound escaped her lips as she quickly averted her eyes. “I won’t come back out tonight.”
“Maybe I won’t let you out at all.” I dropped her to the bed, pinning her beneath me before she could move. “Maybe I’ll keep you here with me until I tire of you.”
“Father?”
A growl left me at her trembling voice. She was confused. Afraid. The combination of her calling me Father didn’t suddenly have the lack of appeal it had before. I…liked it. Wanted to hear her screaming it as I had my way with her body.
“Say it again,” I said, pushing my hard cock into her panties.
Kit’s arm rose and I quickly caught her wrist before she could push at my shoulder.
“What’s the matter, my child? You scared?”
“Stop it,” she whimpered. “This isn’t you.”
“How do you know who I am? I don’t even know.”
Blonde hair fell over her face as she jerked her head to the side and tried to wiggle away from my body. But I didn’t let her. My hands latched onto both of her wrists tightly while I buried my face in her neck, sucking against her skin hard. The need to mark her however and with whatever I could called to me like nothing else.
“Chase, please. I…” A whimper came from her mouth and she cried out as I increased the suction. “You have to stop.” The fight increased and I only held on tighter, raking my teeth over her as I pulled back.
“It’s too late now.” I moved her arms over her head and collected both of her wrists in one of my hands. The freedom of the other one had me moving down to the end of the shirt pooled at her waist. “I have to confess…I want you.”
“You’re in shock from the call,” she cried out. “It’s triggered something in your mind. You’re not thinking right.” Still, she fought. “You can’t do this.”
“Wrong. I can.”
I lowered enough to rub my fingers down her slit. The wetness of her panties had me groaning through my need to rip them off. At the small gasp of me pushing over her entrance, Kit cried out, thrusting her hips down before she caught herself. The sound of a phone ringing echoed from the hallway, causing both of our heads to whip in the direction. Like ice water through my veins, I released her wrist and stood. My feet stepped back at a fast pace, trying to place distance between us.
“Fuck…” My gasps came out heavy and loud as sweat began to pour from my skin. Maybe she was right. Maybe I was in shock. “Do not leave this room until morning. I make no promises next time.”
Once again, I locked the door and slammed it shut, moving to the office at a quick pace. The phone revealed the call was blocked, but I hit the button before the answering machine could pick up.
“Hello?”
“Father, long time, no talk. This is Rory McIntyre. I hear my sister is there with you. Can I talk to her?”
Red immediately covered my vision even as I tried to register his voice. I knew it from somewhere. It tickled my memory, tugging at the hidden scenes until a slight throb appeared. The immediate defensiveness and anger had my lip peeling back. “I don’t know who told you that, but they must have been mistaken. How did you get my number? Do I know you?”
A laugh came through. “You can say we’re old friends. Although, not very close. Mostly acquaintances. We ran into each other a lot at the diner. We always seemed to catch breakfast around the same time.”
“Diner?” I hadn’t felt the need to go out to eat anywhere since I’d been back.
“Yeah. Fred’s. Listen, are you sure my sister isn’t with you? Sheriff said she was spotted heading into the church. You leave—she disappears. I find that odd. Especially since Father Brimley said you were taking her to the airport.”
My fist clenched. “That’s why she’s not here. I dropped her off at the airport.”
“But the drive there and back is over an hour each way. You wouldn’t have had time to make it home, given the way traffic can be at times. I think she’s there with you.”
“And I think you neglect to understand simple math. I could have made it home by now, because I’m here. Is there anything else I can help you with? If not, I’m going back to bed.”
