I rub my cheeks as if it would do something to lower the color of my heated skin. “Fine. I’ll tell you everything you need to know, but first, I need to eat. Did you order something?”
“Macaroni and cheese, and a burger and French fries because you said you were starving.”
I give her a thumbs up. “You’re the best.”
“Where will you ever find a friend like me?” She answers her question before I can. “Nowhere. That is why you must be good to me.”
“Come on, I’m always good to you,” I tell her with a smile.
Our food arrives and I don’t have the willpower to wait for her to finish placing it all on our table. I dig into the fries beforethe dish leaves her hand. My groan is muffled by the loud rumble from my stomach.
I don’t realize Kim is staring at me until I look up. “What?”
She lifts her juice, fixing the straw between her lips and sipping. “You’re eating like you’ve been stuck on an island with no food for weeks.”
I’d rather be stuck on an island with no food or water than be stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea like I am right now. “I didn’t have breakfast or lunch today so I might as well have been stuck on an island for a week.”
“It’s not like you to sleep in.”
“It’s not. Marcus was over at my place last night and it just felt so warm sleeping with his arms around me.”
Kim’s mouth falls open, her pupils dilating. “So, I wasn’t wrong?”
“Oh, crap!” I’d slipped up and told her. It’s useless trying to hide anything from her now. “You weren’t. He and I, we have this thing going on.”
She keels over the table. “Are you dating?”
I take a bite from my burger. “I wouldn’t call itdating, but it’s a lot more than being friends.”
“Have you two slept together yet?”
I stop chewing, lifting my shoulders and give her my most guilty smile. “Well…”
Her eyes are almost bulging from their sockets. “Well, what? Go on. I’m waiting.”
“We have slept together. Once.”
Kim throws a hand over her lips to hold her gasp in. “Are you shitting me right now?” Her voice is mixed with excitement and disbelief.
“Sadly, I’m not.”
“You kept your virginity for twenty-seven years only to give it up to a mafia guy you barely know?” She takes another gulp of her juice. “He must be hot. Please tell me he’s hot because that’s the only way he’s worth it.”
My heart does a little dance as I think of Marcus, his blue eyes, dark, curly hair and sharp jawline. I feel my body heat just remembering the way he touched me and kissed me the night I let him have my virginity.
Heat prickles down my spine and settles in my core.
Fuck. I’m visualizing his toned muscles, his thrusts. Everything about that man is hot. “Hot doesn’t even describe him. He’s so freaking good, and he’s handsome. I couldn’t help it.”
Kim grunts, biting her lip. “Now I want to see him. Does he have a brother ora friend? I’m asking for someone,” she says with a grin.
“He has an older brother who I suppose is happily married, and a younger brother who is single and sleeps with a different woman every night.”
Kim hisses. “Me and my bad luck.” She reaches for a fry on my plate. “Does he know he’s the first guy you’ve ever been with?”
“He does.”
“And…he didn’t ask you to be his girlfriend? Really?” She rolls her eyes. “He sounds like a jerk to me.”
