“Oh hell no,” I cursed. “Give me a fucking gun.”
Loki and Bane had been fucking silent since they left the hospital, Damien was laid out in the hospital, the only pack member I had that was totally fine was Romeo. A twinge of guilt hit me as I thought of him and how I had snuck out of the hospital without even a heads up.
I doubted even an I’m-sorry-blowjob was going to make up for this particular evasion.
Or at least not just one.
“The safety is on,” Alessandro told me seriously as he reached back and handed me a handgun. “Aim for the biggest parts of the body, chest works best, and leave getting answers to us.”
“I’m the one that set the cult buildings on fire and got Hazel out before all of you arrived,” I reminded him grimly as I took the offered weapon. “I’m not worried about keeping my hands clean.”
Without waiting for them to get ready I was out of the SUV and approaching the compound, flipping the safety off as I headed over for the confrontation.
There was commotion behind me and then Emiliano was beside me, a wide grin filling his face as his steely gaze looked over the men who hadn’t noticed us yet.
“My brother is staying with Hazel to make sure she’s protected. I’ll be your backup and if you need me to take over, say the word.”
“You might just be my favorite.”
“Obviously,” he chuckled.
That reaction is what made the two men notice us. Their gaze flicked between the gun I didn’t bother hiding and the man by my side with no obvious weapon on hand. But even then they must have realized who he was because they paled at the sight of him.
A few whispers of de Luca were thrown around and people started running.
“Motherfuckers,” Emiliano complained before letting out a long, low whistle.
Aiming the gun with steady hands I fired and the man with bloody knuckles was down on the ground grunting and holding his stomach.
“Where are they?” I demanded as I stalked up to the man I shot.
“You crazy fucking bitch! You shot me.”
“I can see you’re in the MC for your smarts,” I deadpanned. “I’ll ask slower this time. Where. Is. My. Pack?”
“Well if it isn’t the omega with the pussy of gold,” a taunting voice called out. My head jerked up and there was a group of men walking our way with sneers on their faces as they looked me up and down. “Must be fucking something for Viper to drop us like we weren’t even fucking family.”
“What are you talking about?” I questioned, not backing down even as my gut told me this was a stupid fucking thing to do.
“Your fucking alpha abandoned our chapter, his fucking family, the moment he saw you again. The omega that left without a look back. The omega that dumped him with a fuckingnote,” he snarled, face twisting in disgust. “As if you are even fucking worthy of him looking at you twice.”
“He’s my mate,” I pushed back, not about to let him talk down to me. “What happened between us back then and what happens now has nothing to do with you. And if this is how you react to him getting his pack… No wonder he left.”
“Eliza,” Emiliano said my name softly, a warning to hold back.
But it was too late. I’d lit a match not only with my anger that went from icy cold to burning hot, but this mystery man’s, too.
“Going to a rival club and getting them to help you because you can’t handle your own shit…. Fucking pathetic,” I spat at him. His eyes flashed in warning but we were toe to toe now.
“You’re a lot of talk for an omega standing here with her pack falling one by one,” another guy spoke up behind the one that had been talking. “If you think Viper was the only target then you’re sorely mistaken.”
“Where are Loki and Bane?” Emiliano asked, his soft voice making the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
“Around,” the first guy waved a hand vaguely. “You should find them before time runs out. Gunshot wounds are a nasty business.”
An explosion had me ducking down for cover. After a few seconds, I saw a billow of black smoke filling the air and flames coming from a building at the back of the compound.
“Not to mention fire,” the other one tacked on with a dark chuckle. There was only ice-cold venom in his words despite the fake amusement.
